Should Arabic numerals be taught in US schools?

Post by brian ross » Tue May 21, 2019 11:06 pm

Should Arabic numerals be taught in US schools?

Apparently not. Funny that, I suppose they want to go back to Roman numeric notation, instead?

What are commonly used numerals 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 are actually called "Arabic numerals".

Just goes to show how ignorant many Americans are...

Rather like the 26% of them that believe that the Sun revolves around the Earth.

A small study of 2020 people out of 327 million said no. It's your ignorance on display as well as your bias.

I didn't realise you were innumerate, as well as illogical, Black Orchid.

Statistics shows that with a sample of approximately 1,000 people you have an accuracy of about 96% regarding peoples' opinions. A sample of 2,020 respondents IIRC gives an accuracy of about 97%. However the sample was approximately 3,050 people, not the 2,020 that you claimed.

Of course, them statistics is a modern science and we all know you're still only interested in Witch Burning and Lynching, right?

Results depend solely on the demographic the respondents are drawn from. I said 2020 people said NO! Which is correct.

Omar Khayyam is credited with the first published use of the word "Algebra" however, the first use of the concepts of algebra are usually credited to the Babylonians.

Interesting that you haven't commented on how ignorant many Americans appear to be...

I think the youth of today should be taught Arabic numerals.

They all want to take drugs.
So they will need to be able to communicate with all the drug dealers
Who are of course, predominantly muzzo and always Arabic .
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

Brian being retarded again. Actually, the so called "Arabic numeral system" was not invented by Araps. It was invented between the 1st and 4th centuries by Indian mathematicians. The system was adopted in Arabic mathematics by the 9th century. :bgrin

Half-wit :bgrin
The one that says the least can often have a very different perspective and hold the answer. The least qualified person may hold the most wisdom. When you don’t have knowledge or experience blocking your perspective, you can see problems and solutions.
