I had the fortune to see Avatar yesterday in 3D.

It was truly an amazing cinema experience (the movie itself as a piece had flaws...) and with a thump of sub-seat speakers it reminded me of the gap between home theatre and the real thing.

Looking back, I could clearly remember those cinema experiences that simply haven't faded from memory - the first time I saw Aliens in the cinema
(double feature with Predator), Terminator 2, Titanic, and now Avatar. All James Cameron films. Loathe the excess of him if you will, he has the ability to stab a pulsar rifle into your forehead and show you things you never ever thought possible.

I love his visual effects but he really should not get invovled in the writing process, his story lines are usually predictable.

I figured out the premis of Avatar just from the trailer, the noble savage myth, Dances with Wolves or a Man Called Horse on another moon.

Be careful driving home afterwards. I nearly stumbled on the cinema steps and felt a bit detached while driving.

I will avoid that by not going.
