Gargasoulas claims government oppression

Post by Black Orchid » Thu Jan 31, 2019 3:40 pm

Bourke Street killer James Gargasoulas claims he is not evil and was himself a victim of "government oppression" before he ran down dozens of pedestrians in a stolen car.

Gargasoulas was on Thursday given permission to enter the witness box on the third day of his pre-sentence hearing in the Supreme Court after he was last year found guilty of murdering six people and injuring 27 others.

Standing just metres away from people whose lives he ruined, he began a 20-minute stint in the witness box by reading a letter he had written three days earlier, in which he apologised "from my heart for taking the lives of your loved ones".

But he soon after tried to shift blame to the government and said he never imagined his own life would turn out the way it did.

"I am deeply ashamed of what I have done. I must say it is a tragic day for all of you and myself. If only we can go back in time I would change it all," he said.

"What I want you to know is I am a victim of government oppression. It is because of government oppression six people died and many were injured."

"I am not evil. I am not a terrorist. I am a freedom fighter who is now educated to stop oppression," he said.

Gargasoulas, 29, murdered six people, including two children, when he mowed down pedestrians in a stolen Holden Commodore while speeding along Bourke Street at lunchtime on January 20, 2017, while under effects of the drug ice.

He pleaded not guilty to murdering Yosuke Kanno, 25, Bhavita Patel, 33, Jessica Mudie, 22, Matthew Si, 33, three-month-old Zachary Bryant and 10-year-old Thalia Hakin, but in November a jury took less than an hour to find him guilty of six counts of murder and 27 of reckless conduct endangering life, related to the other pedestrians he injured.

This week's hearing has allowed victims and their families to outline the grief and horror they have experienced for two years, and will determine whether Justice Mark Weinberg jails him for the rest of his life, or fixes a date he will be eligible for parole.

He pleaded not guilty because he isn't to blame, the government is to blame!

Never to be released imo.

Wrong, Mechie. You do seem to like erecting strawman arguments, don't you? Don't you like being asked questions about the bullshit you post here?

Now tgere is a suggestion worthy of consideration.

Politicians are the problem, to any issue.

Start taking out pollies and tge world suddenly becomes a much better place.

Simply because each time one dies

The world becomes a much better place for it's passing.

Melbourne’s Bourke Street killer James Gargasoulas has been sentenced to life in prison for killing six people and injuring 27 others when he drove his car through Melbourne's CBD in 2017.

Justice Mark Weinberg described the actions of James Gargasoulas as “one of the worst examples of mass murder in Australia’s history”, as he set a non-parole period of 46 years.

Gargasoulas stood in the dock flanked by four prison guards holding his hands by his side and wearing blank expression on his face.

Gargasoulas will not be eligible for parole until age 76 for what Weinberg labelled "callous and cowardly act".

“I do not accept that you are genuinely remorseful”, he said.

In one of the city’s darkest days, Gargasoulas killed six pedestrians and injured dozens more when he drove a stolen car along footpaths and through a busy pedestrian mall while in a drug-induced psychosis on January 20, 2017.

The 29-year-old’s victims included three-month-old baby Zachary Bryant, who was thrown 60 metres from his pram, and 10-year-old girl Tahlia Hakin.

Family of the victims filled the Supreme Court to see Gargasoulas sentenced today.

In a letter read to the previously read to court, Gargasoulas insisted he was not evil and blamed "government oppression" for the murders.

Gargasoulas described what he believed were the government and monarchy's misdeeds in overruling "God's laws of liberty" and that the country's legal, social and financial systems were designed to "enslave humanity".

This is an excellent outcome ... UNTIL some progressive judge squashes it on appeal.

If he appeals it then they then should extend his non parole period to 56 years.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
