#metoo at it again

It's a Christmas classic probably being played in shops and radio stations all over the world.

But a radio station in Cleveland, Ohio has decided to remove Baby It's Cold Outside from its playlist following complaints from listeners.

Local media report that listeners said the song was inappropriate and at odds with the #MeToo movement.

But a poll on the station's Facebook page showed a majority of respondents did not want the song banned.

What is the metoo "movement"? According to Wiki it is:

The Me Too movement (or #MeToo movement), with many local and international alternative names, is a movement against sexual harassment and sexual assault

They are being a little precious, aren't they, by banning an OLD Christmas song that has been around for 70+ years!

Oh, I see this song has words

that the song promotes date rape.

What absolute nonsense!

I usually close my ears and eyes when I hear/see #metoo but aren't they the generation of progressive left wing millennial Hollywood starlets that are behind all the 30 year old rape allegations etc?

Some of these allegations could well be true but why wait 30 years?

Terry Gilliam from Monty Python got slogged for this ...

In a an interview with AFP on Friday, the filmmaker, a member of the comedy group Monty Python, specifically went after Harvey Weinstein’s alleged victims, and said, “Harvey opened the door for a few people, a night with Harvey — that’s the price you pay.”

“It is a world of victims. I think some people did very well out of meeting with Harvey and others didn’t,” he added. “The ones who did, knew what they were doing. These are adults; we are talking about adults with a lot of ambition.” Gilliam also claimed that some of the women didn’t actually suffer, but used Weinstein to further their careers.

The “Brazil” and “12 Monkeys” director also defended Matt Damon, who received public backlash in January for suggesting there were levels of sexual harassment, saying that touching someone’s butt is different than rape.

“I feel sorry for someone like Matt Damon, who is a decent human being,” Gilliam said of those original statements. “He came out and said all men are not rapists, and he got beaten to death. Come on, this is crazy!”

Despite describing the #MeToo movement as “simplistic” and “silly,” he still said Weinstein was “a monster” and warned there were still other people in the industry behaving like him. “I don’t think Hollywood will change, power always takes advantage — it always does and always has,” Gilliam said.

But in many ways he is right.

The entire thing is becoming ridiculous. Perhaps it is because the guys who (perhaps) made a pass at some girl, many years ago, are now "famous"?

Makes females look really stupid. IF somebody does something you dislike, say so ... or slap a face or three ... but don't leave it for 20+ years to whine about it.

I really don't think men are any worse (or have more hands) than they had when I was a teenager.

I blame ISLAM.
