sexual harassment
https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/ ... 99604c3c59
THE state’s top prosecutor has ordered his lawyers in Newcastle to complete a sexual harassment course after a female solicitor “tweaked” the nipple of a male colleague through his shirt.
The woman is said to be “highly embarrassed” over the incident, which happened in the biggest regional office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
No one had been drinking alcohol and it happened during the day in view of a number of other lawyers.
“It was just a joke,” a source said.
It didn’t bother (the male solicitor) but someone saw it and reported it as inappropriate. She is highly embarrassed.”
Dozens of lawyers work in the office in Hunter St, where they prosecute in the Children’s Court, local courts, District Court and Supreme Courts.
They have also played a key role in the Child Sexual Offence Evidence Pilot in the District Courts in Sydney and Newcastle aimed at reducing the trauma of child victims and allowing evidence to be prerecorded before trials.
A spokeswoman for Director of Public Prosecutions Lloyd Babb said: “A training course was provided to staff in a regional office. Outside of that, the office declines to comment.”
now this is a worry top Legals do not know the rules on Sexual Harassment they need lessons...
I always knew the country was going to the pack... but this is serious stuff......
no tweaking girls....

I think our whole legal system is a complete joke. Maybe the Law Society has 'tweaked' the course structure so much (like our schools) that all we are left with are complete numbskulls.

But what if a male had tweaked a female's nipple through her blouse?
Then it would be sexual harassment or assault.
This has got to be a 2 way street.

Re: sexual harassment
Yes Bobby I agree with you it does obviously need to be a two way street.
I was commenting on the sheer stupidity of this apparent lawyer who works for the DPP. Clueless and stupid.

Whilst this really is storm in a tea cup type stuff, the glaring difference is, the tweaker is female and the result is a training course, IF the tweaker were male he would by now be referred to as a "former" DPP lawyer and instead of this paper telling us about her embarrassment, there would be photo's of him going into Court as an accused sex offender, how's that for "embarrassment".
And yet we consistently hear that misogyny is apparently rife and equality is all women want, well there you go I guess.

Re: sexual harassment
It's similar to domestic violence, female on male, and that does happen more than we hear. The courts are more lenient on women in matters such as these and I definitely do not agree with the way that rolls.

Re: sexual harassment
Hang on, but the guy who was tweaked said it didn't bother him.
???? Did any of you miss this?
Inappropriate workplace folly between colleagues ...... sounds like whoever reported it may have had a jealous streak?
Workplace trouble maker.
I'll bet the two in question are good friend's or sex buddies.
Storm in a teacup, hardly comparable to genuine harassment.
A little playful fun among colleagues, clearly there's no case for sexual harassment or claims here just the PC brigade going overboard due to a workplace wouser trouble maker.

Then it's up to him to come forward and settle it down. Hearsay on what he said. He should be making a statement.

Why should he make a statement if there's no case to answer for.
Its ridiculous, and makes a mockery out of genuine sexual harassment case's.
