https://www.bowelcanceraustralia.org/wh ... wel-cancer

As most of you know, I was recently very ill. VERY ill. For well over a week.

As a typical Mum, I was hoping I would get better with bed rest, fluids, Panadol Rapid etc. The never ending housework, the blooming washing, the kids, the big kid ie the hubby.....all these things came 1st. Right?

Wrong!

An incessant high fever, losing weight, inability to eat/drink/sleep, looking pale and a hacking cough which makes your ribs sore and head migraine....needs to be checked out by a doctor.

Some of you pushed me to do this (most probably because I was on here complaining about my aches and pains and that was giving you the shits!) but for your prodding, I am most grateful.

Please click on the above link.

Take a look at the 3rd lump in that diagram.

That's where I was at.

Please read the link carefully.

Why?

The information in that link may very well save yourself and/or someone you know.

Polyps do not make you sick and feverish. You would never even know they were there and are only found if there is cause to look. There are absolutely no symptoms.

Ummm no....polyps can make you feel VERY sick.

And there are a constellation of symptoms which can occur concurrently.

Best you stick to what you know....and leave medical issues to those who are qualified AND/OR have been advised by those who are medically qualified.

Otherwise you will run the risk of posting BS....again.

I am VERY qualified in this matter. It is you who have no clue. You do NOT get feverish and sick from polyps.

Next time you try to spin a yarn for sympathy try Googling more effectively.

Anemia can cause dizziness and fever but if you were bleeding that much from your rectum that you were anemic I should think you would have noticed it.

Oh bog orf!

Not interested in your trolling games.

I am MORE than entitled to post about what I've experienced and what I've been advised by a fully qualified doctor and specialist.

You on the other hand .....need to get a freaking REAL life!

Bleeding from the rectum????? Well that didn't occur. And for your bloody information...it doesn't always occur. But you don't know that. Why? You couldn't find it using Google.

And as for being anaemic...well duh.....that's nothing new. I've had Thalassemia all my freaking life!

Unlike you I don't need sympathy or attention for that matter...and unlike you, I see the need to thank those around me who prodded me to get to the doctors and to warn others about something which can be avoided.

Now bugger off and stop trolling.

Mantra.....come back. All is forgiven!!!!

Cods....please come back too. :sad

I am certainly not looking for attention and I didn't bring it up and always keep my private life private but here's just a few questions you should know ...

What was the size of the polyps? 2mm, 4mm, 30mm?

Were they sessile?

Were they removed with a cold snare or a saline injection lift? This depends on the size.

Were they in the Caecum?

Were any Villous Adenomas?

Did they give you Midazolam or Fentanyl or both?

How long before a follow up?

No deflections by way of tantrums please. These are the easy questions and you should be able to answer them without pause.

Orchid is correct.

Polyps do not, by themselves make you ill. They are a precursor to a bowel cancer diagnoses.
They are not cancerous themselves.

I had a colonoscopy/laser treatment at a certain hospital after a barrage of tests were carried out. I was heavily sedated (not under GA) for the procedure.

I will apparently be needing regular follow up treatment from now on. Why? I will develop more and these can be dangerous...ie cancerous if left untreated.

It appears there is a history of bowel cancer on my dad's side. I've spoken spoken with that side of the family because it was impt that my doctors knew. No history appears on my mum's side. My Italian background is a different story....heavy meat and pasta eaters.

Oh and re the specifics of my medical procedure.....I was heavily sedated and still felt sick and weak from being ill for well over a week. And that vile bleach tasting stuff I was ordered to drink beforehand has given me post traumatic stress. I have recurring nightmares.....even now.

Ruminating/BO or whatever/whoever you are......just a tip.....when a person is VERY sick and has to go to hospital because they feel their intestines are about to explode on account of excruciating pain.....the LAST thing they care about are the precise details of their bowels...ie themselves. As a mum, the 1st thing we worry about is if our kids are going to be ok and if our husband is going to cope.

Ok.....I'll fess. I was also worried about the house work and washing too.

The actual hospital report is currently being prepared for my local doctor.

If you like, I'll tell my doctor to send you a copy.

Shall I tell them you're a doctor?

He'll want to know.

So you has a colonoscopy BFD.
Its a routine examination and polyps are removed as a matter of course.

Oh shut up.

Try reading what I HAVE POSTED AS AN ATTENTIVE HISTORIAN RE WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME.

After that, make sure you and those you know get checked out.

It's impt to know you're ok.

Also, if you love eating a lot of red meat.....be VERY careful.

In my case...I eat red meat but certainly not a lot. (I have Thalassemia thanks to my Italian and Greek heritage...so I need the iron).

All I know NOW is that bowel cancer runs in my dad's family.

And the revolting procedure I recently had is something I now need to get used to.

The constellation of symptoms I exhibited was a result of me trying to fight illness on my own.....it led to fatigue, lack of sleep, no ability to eat food and very little ability to hold down fluids. I lost a lot of weight and I looked deathly pale.

My tummy pains were excruciating....and the pain extended to my sides and back. I kept telling my husband that my stomach was going to explode and all my insides were going to drop out. It was unbearable. My temperature spiked at 39 degrees. The stress on my body resulted in shitful asthma attacks.

Re blood...when asked, I told the doctors that there was no blood anywhere when I went to the loo.

They told me that apparently blood can still be there. And it can go unnoticed.

Well I then fessed that I never really take the time to see anything, because I'm always rushing.

Anyway....
