Why conservatives can be a little short of social graces
People who are conservative could be less sensitive to the subtle cues in other people’s body language than liberals, according to a study.
Growing evidence suggests that there tend to be considerable psychological differences between people whose views lie at opposite ends of the political spectrum. Conservatives are likely to be happier, more simplistic and prone to a “negativity bias” that makes them more sensitive to threats and bad news.
Scientists at the University of Padua in Italy have now found that they are also less inclined to follow the direction of another person’s gaze. “This may be consistent with the idea that conservatives, as compared to liberals, assign greater value to personal autonomy and therefore might be less likely to be influenced by others,” they write in the journal Cognitive Processing this week.
The psychologists split 68 students into “liberal” and “conservative” groups based on their views on issues such as immigration and gay marriage. They were shown pictures of faces looking either to the right or left, interspersed with arrows pointing in either direction and told to press a button when they saw an image.
While the liberals reacted equally quickly to the faces and the arrows, the conservatives responded much faster to the arrows than the faces. “Our results are in line with the idea that conservatives are specifically less responsive to stimuli acting as social external drives,” the authors wrote.

I don't accept the credibility of selective surveys because they generally have a preconceived notion or agenda to push.
I don't acknowledge the left Vs right paradigm as worthwhile giving credence to because both sides are so partisan they can only see fault with those at the opposite end of their political spectrum, and will blindly excuse or justify the faults or misdeeds of their compatriots.
I don't care about Liberal or Conservative perspectives, I only care about truth.
And the truth is both sides lie, constantly.
I've also noticed that the so called left and right have in recent decades switched emotional positions.
So where as the right was considered conservative, they are now the demanding radicals.
And where as the left were considered liberals, they are now the overly sensitive indignants.

If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?
