Sad that is but maybe they can be saved for a time in the future when they can live without fear of poachers. If I were starving in Africa I would probably kill an endangered animal to feed my family as well.

Sure it is, every African should domesticate a rhino as a pet. Why don't you import one as a pet.

I guess you would want/demand Government assistance though, right?

I saw a story on TV last night about this. They can cut the horns off and they grow back in about two years, but unfortunately the bastards are still killing the rhino just for the pissy little bit of horn that's still left.

I did. Stop thinking that everyone thinks the same as you do. They do NOT.

Africans are VERY different to us. IF you want to take a family of Africans on at your place, go for it. They will do ANYTHING to look after their own ... as they should. Plus they still consider us "whities" the enemy.

Um, anyway. The article includes a piece about a guy "farming" rhinos, for sale to zoos (etc.), and the idea that their horns can be cut, and regrow. Perhaps legalising rhino horn could satisfy demand, and lower the prices being paid for black market horn?
