Carbon Tax Repeal

Post by Rorschach » Wed Nov 13, 2013 1:14 pm

After losing the election The Greens and the ALP seem to think they have a mandate for a carbon tax... which in fact was the main issue at the election. They lost. They don't seem to understand democracy or how it works.

If the Coalition has a mandate to do anything it would be on 2 major issues... the carbon tax and boat people.

Today we had that idiot Bandt calling Abbott, Typhoon Tony, blaming him for the tragedy in the Phillipines. In fact the poor ignorant representatives of the Phillipines at the UN climate convention seem to think this typhoon is due to climate change and if we did something, suddenly they'd stop. Even Tim Flannery said if emissions totally stopped now it would take up to 1000 years for there to be any sign of change. So get ready for another 1000 years of typhoons Filipinos... not that you haven't seen any before, in fact there are quite a few typhoons that have hit the Phillipines that would make the top 20 storms recorded.

Apparently according to Labor and the Greens, Abbott is making us a laughing stock on this issue. Mind you they blame him personally for just about every bad thing that happens on the planet. But most sane people know that this is not true.

Statement by Parliamentary Secretary Paul Calandra on Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott's Introduction of Legislation to Repeal the Carbon Tax

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 12, 2013) - Today, Paul Calandra, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, issued the following statement on behalf of the Government of Canada on Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott's introduction of legislation to repeal the carbon tax:

"Canada applauds the decision by Prime Minister Abbott to introduce legislation to repeal Australia's carbon tax. The Australian Prime Minister's decision will be noticed around the world and sends an important message.

"Our government knows that carbon taxes raise the price of everything, including gas, groceries, and electricity. Prime Minister Abbott has said that, in Australia, the repeal of the carbon tax will reduce the average household's cost of living by (in Australian dollars) $550 a year, take $200 off household power bills and $70 off gas bills.

"Our government has reduced greenhouse gas emissions while protecting and creating Canadians jobs - greenhouse gas emissions are down since 2006, and we've created 1 million net new jobs since the recession - and we have done this without penalising Canadian families with a carbon tax."

So, what happened?

I watched a little bit of Question Time today but got irritated so turned the CC on and the sound off. LOL

Boof (whatshisname) who stood up and proudly announced, with excitement, that the ALP had gotten us an AAA thingie and then Joe got and said "I should (bloody well) hope so, since we achieved it first". :rofl

Bronnie needs to speak LOUDER!

My son went to the Philippines last Thursday for a week. I didn't have a clue which part. Then I heard the news that 10,000 were dead. Thankfully he wasn't anywhere near the typhoon.

So we've had an AAA rating consistently since the Howard government? If that's the case - Labor kept it despite the crap piled on them for being such bad managers. Hockey is a creep.

Of course they understand and they lost on a few issues, but why shouldn't they stand their ground if they believe in what they're doing? Abbott hasn't got a mandate in the Senate yet.

Abbott & Co. expect everyone to roll over when they say so. They're in for some setbacks which hopefully will curb their arrogance a bit.

Glad your son is OK.

You knew that, surely. Labor did not "get it for us".

Don't put down the Private School kids. Krudd was one (Catholic school) as was his wife (CofE ... and she went to the same Private School in Melbourne that I did, Firbank).

I think you're the one confused about democracy.

The people who voted for the greens and alp have a right to expect them to vote the way they campaigned... ie. for real action on climate change. They have a responsibility to the people who voted for them, they deserve to be represented in the parliament.

Boxy, do you really, truly think that pollies campaign because they actually believe in stuff? 'Tis all about power and absolutely nothing about truth or democracy.
