Baby Shower Brawl

This is one of those stories that starts crazy and just gets crazier: Police in Stoughton, Massachusetts were called to a 200-person baby shower (!) when a fight broke out (!!) a little after 11pm (why are you having a baby shower at midnight!?).
The fighting apparently broke out when some party crashers “sucker punched” one of the guys at the party. From there it escalated into a full-on 200 person brawl that took a whole mess of cops to break up, some of which made things even worse, apparently.

“Oh my God. It was just nonstop. There would be a skirmish in this corner, we’d go over to address it, and then another one would start up somewhere else,” police Sgt. Daniel McGowan said.

One of the guests on the invite list “’flipped a table’ when his 6-month-old child got ‘thrown across the room,’” (!!!) and then things got really out of hand. A partial list of incidents in the ensuing brawl:

A man was Tased
The Tased man’s pregnant sister was pushed on top of him by a cop
A cop was punched
A kid got hit in the head with a falling table
A 2 month-old was “shoved across the room”
A 14 year-old was arrested for assault and battery of a police officer

Maria Depina, in whose honor the baby shower was being thrown and is eight months pregnant with her first child said, “I was very scared. It’s still a shock to me.” And then added, “I didn’t even get to cut the cake.”
