Met a 90 year old man once who had a cigarette in one hand and a glass of whiskey in the other, perfect health, full head of hair and not a worry in the world. If only we could all go out like that.

I just heard of someone who has been diagnosed with lung cancer. He has never smoked even one cigarette. Never a passive smoker even. He is in his 60s. Luck of the draw?

Yeah, maybe. The 90 man I mentioned had a son who died of cancer and never smoked.

My MIL died of throat cancer. Poor thing, it was ugly, but she had never smoked a single cigarette in her whole life
I also read about a 92 year old in QLD years ago. He gave up because his family were making his life miserable about his smoking. 12 months later he had cancer and said that if he never gave up he probably wouldn't have contracted it
Luck of the draw imo

Plain packaging will not deter people from smoking. You either want to give up, for sensible reasons, or you don't. Nothing to do with the packaging which has had pics of cancer sufferers on them for eons

On the other hand.....you do not start, perhaps because Government has the balls to sort it out.Black Orchid wrote:Plain packaging will not deter people from smoking. Rubbish Aussie. Did you start smoking because you liked what was on the packet or the brand name?
