Globally carbon more precisely CO2 has become a political weapon for Green groups and the Left Wing. A move towards more "progressive" policies and wealth redistribution by organisations like the UN have taken hold.

The "science" has been hijacked and dissenters vilified.

But here are some facts presented in a podcast.

Did you know economic activity (household and business) has kicked up a notch or two since the Carbon Price took effect? Carbon pricing of course was the big uncertainty hanging over the economy and now that is fixed. Even if Abbott were to become PM he would not rescind the Carbon Price and the electorate does not believe he would.

The data flow covering the time period since the carbon tax started on 1 July 2012 are coming through thick and fast.

The numbers, quite unambiguously, point to the economy doing very on just about all fronts. Share prices and house prices are both rising, business confidence and consumer sentiment is rising; jobs are being created and the unemployment rate ticked lower.

The information below makes no claim that there is a link between the pricing of carbon and the change in the variable in question. In most instances, there almost certainly is no relationship with carbon pricing. This exercise is an attempt to put some much needed context to the misguided debate in some quarters about how the carbon price will impact on the economy.

There is of course a link: certainty for business at last and households have realised they are being well compensated and are no longer frightened by the carbon price.

Not only that, more and more countries are introducing cap and trade schemes and similar, think Leaders are getting frightened: Arctic ice is shrinking much faster than previously thought and the retreat of the Himalayan glaciers, which feed seven major rivers on which like a billion people depend, is more noticeable every northern hemisphere summer.

The "1000 year air we breath out Tax" will not change the climate. Flannery has already stated that even if everyone stopped emitting now, that there would be no noticeable difference for up to 1000 years. Who'd think a government would get away with taxing air. Well next election will show that they can't.

The real economic and personal budget effects of this tax will be cumulative and will not be fully visible for months after we start getting the roll on effects and bills start to come in. Remember when they said it would not effect anyone except the big polluters...? That was a lie wasn't it JM, otherwise there would have been no need for any compensation.
