Whichever you pronounce BROCCOLI then BROCCOLINI is the same just add the NI

Some nuff nuffs would like to try and convince others that BROCCOLINI is pronounced completely different to BROCCOLI


But I am surprised that you don't offer the option to pronounce BROCCOLI as BROC-COLLY

Oh, people who live in Canberra say "Canbra".

Bart is right too, NSW the Penal State and always jealous of Victoria since Melbourne was the Original Capital of Australia.

I've been called a Mexican as I do pronounce some words differently having been brought up in Victoria. I would probably still ask for a "round of ham and tomato" at the sandwich shop and pronounce dog as dawg and salt as sawlt. It always amazed me when I lived in Sydney that what I called Silverbeet was called Spinach there.

Aussies are different and each State has its little idiosyncrasies and pronunciations of every day words. We tend to sound the same on Forums where "accents" aren't obvious but there are subtle differences between each State and Territory, believe me.

I say broccoli with a short e - broccole. There are so many dialects in NSW that it's hard to know what the original pronunciation of words was like. I read that a 100 years ago in Australia we had one of the best and clearest dialects of all the English speaking countries, but today it seems that much of the population is unintelligible.
