Learned helplessness and its correlation with poor parenting and poverty....
In a nutshell, learned helplessness is a feeling, even a condition which is created
by repetitive aversive, or negative stimuli..
In the late 60s American psychologist, Martin Seligman and others began research
into the subject of learned helplessness and its causes.....
He began experimenting with dogs, and gave them shocks to test their reactions....
In a nutshell, some dogs learnt to escape the shock, they could jump over a barrier...
Others just gave up....
Seligman decided that the dogs that gave up did so because they simply accepted
that nothing they did would stop the shock.....in other words, they learnt that they
were helpless....
Seligman then lifted those dogs up and placed them over the barrier on their own...
Therefore they had escaped....
Some of them just needed help to escape...….
Bit like children raised in a low socio economic environment with maybe one parent...
The children sense after a while that they are helpless, and unless they suddenly discover
that they can play ball, and have a chance of leaving their low socio economic environment,
they are destined to a life of poverty, and can only perhaps aspire to being a janitor.....
If they don't want to be a janitor, they turn to crime...or decide to become a victim....
All this is caused by the breakdown of the family unit...
The most important relationship a child can have in life is the relationship
with his/her same sexed parent....
Children need competent parenting by two parents....not one....
If they don't get it they may fall through the cracks of society and become statistics....
They then join the ranks of the protestors against authority....or whatever cause suits them....
No amount of government funding will help if children have insufficient or
incompetent parenting....
Attitudes need to change....
Some parts of society are their own worst enemies....
AND whatever you do......don't ever dare to criticize them...….
Therein lies part of the problem.....
To solve a problem, one first has to realize that there is a problem, then recognize/identify and deal with that problem...
Bit like identifying error patterns......
Sometimes its right under our noses......sometimes the problem is simply insurmountable....
Sometimes, you just cant put brains in statues....
Sometimes people are destined to fail.....others simply have failure/helplessness thrust upon them.....
Or something like that.....

To discover those who rule over you, first discover those who you cannot criticize...Voltaire
Its coming...the rest of the world versus islam....or is it here already...
