There are considerable differences, Bobby. Are you Australian or British? Are you White or Indigenous or Asian or perhaps even Muslim? Are you working or unemployed? So many differences which you gloss over so easily. Tut, tut.

Consider not our differences but our sameness:
both multicultural societies,
same language,
same parliamentary system,
same common law,
same Queen,
similar tastes in food,
similar culture,
similar education.
Same war on terrorism.
We fought in the same wars.
We were colonised by the British.

The list goes on.

As I said - we're all bloody British whether we like it or not.

So you agreed with Robert Gordon Menzies when he declared that he was "British to his bootstraps" to the House of Representatives, Bobby?

You do realise that we have been a separate, independent nation since 1901? A nation which made it's own laws and has governed itself completely since 1941? You don't think we might have developed somewhat differently to the UK in that period?

Our culture and values are the same and conducive to living peacefully and agreeably side by side. Not so with Islam whether you wish to pretend otherwise or not.

I wonder what the Indigenous Australias' view is on that, BO? Mmmm?

Muslims can and are quite peaceful people for the most part, BO. What I find interesting is that Sunni and Sh'ite sects appear to get on quite well in Australia. Ever notice the lack of open conflict between the two? Funny that, hey?

All our politicians pledge alliance to her majesty the Queen.
We are therefore British.

Stop saying tut tut instead of T_K T_K.

She is your Queen - the Queen of England and Australia and New Zealand.

Bow down and show allegiance - you traitor - once again.

Oh, dearie, dearie, me. Tut, tut, I'll say tut, tut, if I so desire, Bobby. As for the Queen, which crown is she wearing today? Never seen her or her brood going on any overseas trade tours for Oz, have you? In reality, politicians and members of the military pledge their loyalty to the nation, not some foreign woman who just happens to wear a fancy hat.

The current Oath of Office is:

I, (name), do swear that I will well and truly serve the people of Australia in the office of (position) and that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Australia. So help me God!
