There's spice mead and honey mead, not heard of melon mead.

A mead is a fermented beverage containing honey as the main fermentable.
It can be flavored with fruit or fruit juice: melomel, cyser, pyment, peary
It can be flavored by malt: braggot
It can be flavored by spices: metheglyn
It can be flavored by herbs: hyppocras
Just honey (& water etc:) show mead
Common thread is: honey
