Re: War - Its only a matter of time
My latest thoughts on the war in Ukraine and wars in general:
All wars could be stopped if countries got around tables and agreed to
decrease the size of their armies and military expenditure by 10% every year.
Make it verifiable by all parties. Trust but verify.
Then countries would end up with such small armies that
no one would be a threat to anyone else.
All sides would save a lot of money that could go to increase
the standard of living in every country.
We'd all be better off - everyone is a winner.
It's really quite simple to do -
it only takes genuine and sincere willpower.
Basically human beings are not nice people so it won't happen.
Sorry for my cynicism.
The failure of the UN is also proof of that.

All you have to do is convince a hundred or so dictators of that. Good luck!

My idea is not new - it was used for the START treaties for nuclear weapons.
Everyone is a winner if talks succeed.
Re: War - Its only a matter of time
START did not try to get dictators to give up their power. A dictator without dictatorial power is a corpse.

You don't understand.
Look up START and SALT 1 and SALT 2
It could be applied to conventional forces.

yeah ... cause that worked so well that we no longer have to worry about nukes.
You idiot ... the only nukes that got canned were those that were obsolete and beyond their use by date. Nukes that they were all to eager to be rid off since they cost more to keep safely and maintain than they were worth. Both the USA and Russia still have more than enough nukes to destroy the world as we know it several times over.

Shut up dickhead.
If it wasn't for SALT 1 and SALT 2 we wouldn't be here -
they used to have over 60,000 nuclear weapons.
It was criminal.
It's now down to 10% of that.
