'Moron' militant's selfie leads to US air raid on Isil unit


A “moron” militant from Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) invited the destruction of his unit’s headquarters in Syria after uploading a selfie to the internet.

Intelligence specialists in Florida were able to identify the man’s precise location and conduct a successful air strike in less than twenty four hours, according to reports quoting US air force general Hawk Carlise.

"The [airmen are] combing through social media and they see some moron standing at this command," Gen Carlisle said.

"And in some social media, open forum, bragging about command and control capabilities for Da'esh, Isil, And these guys go: 'ah, we got an in.'

"So they do some work, long story short, about 22 hours later through that very building, three JDAMS take that entire building out. Through social media. It was a post on social media. Bombs on target in 22 hours.

"It was incredible work, and incredible airmen doing this sort of thing."

A spokesman for the Air Force declined to give additional detail on the date or location of the strike.

Which was a reasonable opinion to hold considering CIA reports said all of Iraq's chemical and biological weapons were destroyed by USAF in 1898 via Desert Fox, and the world's premier chemical and biological weapons expert, US Marine's Major Scott Ritter also said Bush's/Powell's claims of WMD were bogus.

Now IS is apparently manufacturing chemical weapons and we've heard this story before. I can remember a national advertisement - prior to the Iraq invasion, of a puppy being gassed with biological weapons concocted by Saddam's scientists. Now it's happening all over again, but IS is not contained the way Saddam was. This is a precursor for the Coalition of the Willing to rally their troops for another serious invasion. Of course there is no choice, but obviously the situation in Iraq is far worse now than it's ever been.

Addressing the Australia Group in Perth overnight on Friday, Ms Bishop ramped up her warnings about IS, also known as Daesh, describing the group as one of the "gravest security threats we face today".

"They seek to undermine and overthrow that order and as we have seen, are prepared to use any and all means, any and all forms of violence they can think of to advance their demented cause," she said.

"That includes use of chemical weapons."

Ms Bishop said the use of chlorine by IS and the recruitment of "highly technically trained professionals", including from the West, revealed serious efforts to develop chemical weapons.

"Daesh is likely to have amongst its tens of thousands of recruits the technical expertise necessary to further refine precursor materials and build chemical weapons," she said.

Cabinet Minister Mathias Cormann said it would be "absolutely terrible" if IS was able to get hold of "chemical, biological or, even worse, nuclear weapons".

I was not using opinions to justify my position. I was using a more familiar analogy. Deposing the Nazi regime was not a good idea merely because of its popularity.
