Fine, then save your comments.
Time has showed that the arguments I presented have proven true. The issue re-opens when there is an update particularly on that validates the arguments put forward years ago.
However as always your contribution, no matter how small and irrelevant is valued. Please keep on trying. Don't give up. You will get there.

SN reckons he has “won the debate” when in England the experience was FTTN was more trouble than it was worth: low speeds, dropouts, constant repair and maintenance needed and so the rollout is changing to FTTH.
Here, with Telstra copper, FTTN won’t work. Hardly any speed improvement and all the many ills of the Telstra copper.
But there is a way the FTTH can be made much cheaper still. Had a look but can’t find where I linked to it, but the gist is AlcatelLucent has devised a distribution point that can be mounted in pit or on a post etc and allows the fibre to be delivered to four premises using either the existing copper lead ins or new fibre laid in the home owners premises.
For a lot of people the copper lead in will be sufficient, assuming it is of acceptable quality.
Can you imagine the vast cost savings this makes possible?
FTTN—nah, never made sense here.
Sorry SN your homework is maked F for Fail—as it has been through this whole debate. Telstra copper can not deliver high speed broadband and this is shown by how quickly the Libs dropped the guarantees on minimum speed over FTTN.

Micro-node products
To provide enough options to service providers, Alcatel-Lucent’s range of micro-nodes covers 192, 48, 16, or even a single subscriber. These micro-nodes are very flexible, giving a choice of powering options (remote or reverse), uplinks (GPON or GE), mounting, and service ports.
The following products are now part of Alcatel-Lucent’s fixed ultra-broadband portfolio.
· 7367 ISAM SX-48V with 48 VDSL2 vectoring ports
· 7367 ISAM SX-16V with 16 VDSL2 vectoring ports
· 7368 ISAM ONT G-010V with 1 VDSL2 port
· 7363 ISAM MX-6: a compact modular system (with 6 mini linecards) supporting up to 192 VDSL2 vectoring ports. In addition, xDSL, POTS, and P2P fiber are also supported
As well as their small footprint for easy and unobtrusive deployment, micro-nodes offer many other advantages. They can be passively cooled (and thus absolutely silent), they can be powered remotely so there is no need for local power, and they don’t require building permits or lengthy approval processes to deploy them.

There you go, 1 second with Google and there is the info. These micronodes just consigned FTTN to the history books.
