It's not easy to find a good sausage roll nowadays. The frozen Aldi ones are pretty good though.

Re: What's for dinner?
I used to make my own BO, up until roughly 12 months ago, and am really looking forward to doing this again.
Very simple , albeit fiddly...
Some quality butcher purchased sausages, thick, 4 should be adequate.
Split the skins, place sausage mince into bowl, add chopped parsley, grated carrot ( squeeze out juice) then place in long rows on frozen bought puff or short crust pastry sheets. I found one sheet would provide 3 long sausage rolls, but it's up to you how thick you want them.
Then bake in oven 180c ( from memory) for 15 to 20 minutes, until done. Don't over cook!
Very simple, but fiddly and they freeze extremely well so worthwhile doubling or trippling the recipe and making a huge batch.
Can use any sausage mince, but I like to use good sausage mince for these, just to raise them up a notch, or else you might as well buy pre- made.
Also buying quality saussages from butchers means you don't need to add much more than parsley and carrot. Some people add cheese too.
I didn't.

Hard to find decent pies too.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 11:31 amIt's not easy to find a good sausage roll nowadays. The frozen Aldi ones are pretty good though.
The demise of our Australian culture, plenty of Sushi rolls and pho bowls tho, on just about every corner in the city.
Thankfully Australian culture is alive and well here in Ballarat, so happy to be here.

Everything's been sold out to the Chinese. Most of the bakeries are run by the Chinese or Vietnamese and their pies, sausage rolls, cakes and pastries are nothing like the good old Aussie ones were.mellie wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 1:08 pmHard to find decent pies too.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 11:31 amIt's not easy to find a good sausage roll nowadays. There was an iconic pie place in Sydney, Harry's Cafe de Wheels, and their pies and sausage rolls were awesome. It started out as a cart in Woolloomooloo. Now it's franchised and run by Chinese and their pies and sausage rolls are absolutely nothing like they used to be.

Probably because they're using ingredients that have been laced with petrochemicals imported from China, who have been caught again recently for carrying food in the same tanks as chemicals and petroleum...and didn't even bother washing them out first. Unbelievable, I won't consume anything that's come from so much as a Chinese restaurant these days, and I'm not alone.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 2:57 pmEverything's been sold out to the Chinese. Recently it's been announced that their clothing is even toxic, so I won't be buying anything made in or by China.
Shein, was one of those named for selling toxic clothing.
Toxic food, clothing, pharmaceuticals, and toys...a coincidence?
I think we need to take a reality check and boycott these grubs at all cost.
If it means buying 2nd hand ugly clothes from an op shop or even making my own from fabric from somewhere that's not China, then so be it.

It's not safe eating Chinese takeaway BO ,

It's been going on for years, lead found in their clothing intended for our children.

Their dirty fight is becoming more blatant, and still idiots will gobble food produced in their Australian restaurants?
Not I.
I make my own and only use Australian ingredients or those from trusted countries.
And what dare I ask is our government doing to protect us from this?
Hint- Not much, as they wouldn't want to offend our neighbours now would they.
This government has no balls, are a pack of girls busily gifting Goat Island which is in itself contaminated to abbos , apparently this is how you say sorry in the language known in Labor circles as "Albanosian". It's an interesting language, spontaneously prone to crocodile tearing, insinsere apologies and spontaneous references to one's public housing upbringing and crippled relatives.
Albanosian, the universal tongue for bullshit and insincere apologies.
No wonder his mother falsified his birth certificate.
Said his father was Italian.
He looks a lot like China's foreign minister Wang Yi to me, I can't see anything even vaguely Italian about him.
Rudd was another one who looked vaguely Chinese.
Is it a Labor leadership credential or something, to look like Mr Sheen?
