My Father built his first home, decades ago. He had no training in carpentry or building but was mathematically very clever. I'll have to look it up, but my Mother mentioned this (especially the roof) in the book she wrote about Family History.

I think so..

The Mrs wanted to go weatherboards but i dug my heels and and wore her down to go bricks 🧱

Better Fire protection, Better insulation, Better Sound proofing, Looks better IMO and no maintenance..

I said if we go weatherboards then YOU will be paining them..

The BAL (bushfire attack level) on WB is 12.5 .. Brick is 40 ...

Then she didn’t want to go red brick..

IM like.. its a Victorian style house.. high pitched roof.. verandas etc.. .. so i also got my way with that one ... LOL .. 😂..

But since then our neighbours have been up and said - THAT is the only colour you would put in that style of house.. its perfect..

Every single tradey who has come in after the bricks have said its one of the bet jobs they’ve seen so we are really happy with it..

Just talked to the Tiler this afternoon.. he’ll be here next week... accepted a quote for our flooring... Pure Wool for the rooms are are carpeting and vinyl timber boards through kitchen, living, dining, passages, walk in pantry

Floor to ceiling tiles in bathrooms.. Gloss on walls.. Matt on floor..

Tiles through laundry floor and walk in linen..

Still have some painting to do on architraves and re-roll walls that the Tradies have marked..

Still waiting on quotes to fit out Laundry and walk in robe..

Kitchen, walk in pantry and walk in lined all completed...
