But if you want to focus on the licence then why didn't these pistol clubs report him as being erratic and unsuitable? Even then, what could the cops do? Watch him 24/7 like they have to watch all the muzzies who import the guns?

a gun club can only follow the rules of the LAWS.... the police can shrug and say tell someone who cares.....we dont!!!!!!!! we just follow the law.....a wife complains her ex has threatened to kill her......tell us when he attempts to do so... till then.......

if an older person needs a doctors report that they are suitable to get a driving licence....why the hell not to get a gun licence..??

either a car or a gun is lethal in the wrong hands.....if you are almost blind could you get a drivers licence?.. I dont think so....


but if you could fill in a stooopid form and have no prior convictions you would likely get a gun licence......

I know it wont stop every case....didnt Rose Battys little boy get killed with a cricket bat?....but to me its not right you can get a weapon like that legally.....with no checks regarding mental stability....

The problem is that most gun crimes are committed by people who obtain their guns illegally. Not by people with gun licences.

I think the governments should not have been so greedy in selling off all the old mental institution sites and we should bring them back. At least that way a Doctor can send someone for assessment, confinement and treatment instead of letting all the loons wander our streets without restriction. We would also have far less homeless people. These people are a social danger to everyone.

People were eating with their fingers for a hell of a lot longer than they have been using knives and forks, And guns give you a lot more certainty of having something to cut with your knife,

At the risk of being hounded down.

I don't think guns, knives or other weapons are the problem.
Honestly.

The problem is society, the lack of adequate mental health resources and people giving into stress to the point that they see no solution.
Drugs play a part as well
Add these all togheter and mix it up with a feeling of out of control and you have a bomb waiting to go off.

We, as a society, have become isolated we don't know or even see our neighbours and would be hard pressed to know if they were in trouble.

Sometimes, even a simple conversation, a shoulder or a cup of tea makes all the difference in the world.

I know only 3 or 4 people in my street
My wife knows everyone, their kids, what they like and even how they feel.
It's not unusual for me to come home to
"Mrs Smith, up the road needs her front door fixed, it's sticking"
And off I go to fix a door, a tap, a light or even program a new TV.

And when my wife had her knees replaced 2 years ago
Everyone came to visit.

I can't do it
She does it without thinking.
