I got a mortgage in 1983 .... I had it paid off by 1996, thanks to a couple of "windfalls". It wasn't easy but just as well as in my retirement I am "rent free", otherwise I wonder how I would cope.

We rent out a lot of properties. Just following the tradition of our mum and dad who came to Oz as teenagers in the 60's. They started buying up homes within a yr of getting here. And they were unskilled workers with bugger all language skills. Says a lot about their work ethic hey.

Fast forward to today....our tenants are uni educated, in their 40s onwards and earn a lot of money.

There's no way we'd consider renting our properties out to anyone on a pension. They wouldn't be able to afford a grand plus/week anyway.

One last point...if you're stupid enough to waste your life on drugs/booze/dole/online when you could be earning money etc.....you deserve to be where you are...ie in the fucking gutter! You've earned your reward. Sucked in!

I have absolutely no sympathy for such dead beat losers. They deserve nothing but disdain.

Why?

you can't live in any of the major cities and rent your own house if you are on a pension ... at best you may be able to share.
