Why in the world are we giving a single Islamic school $19 Million a year anyway?cods wrote:http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/n ... 04c13a1d7d
SYDNEY’s biggest Islamic school has been stripped of $19 million a year in federal funding after a tribunal ruled the money had been misused.
The Malek Fahd Islamic School, which has 2500 students in three campuses in Greenacre, Beaumont Hills and Hoxton Park, now faces immediate closure.
Federal Education Minister Simon Birmingham said it would “entirely a matter for the school’’ if it chose to close.
The federal government froze funding last year amid concerns that money had been funnelled to the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, now known as Muslims Australia.
The school appealed to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT), which has now ruled in the government’s favour.
In a ruling published today, the AAT found that Muslims Australia had been charging the school too much rent.
It found that the school had been operating “for profit’’, with profits benefiting Muslims Australia.
A Malek Fahd Islamic School spokesman today said it would use school funds to appeal against the AAT decision in the Federal Court.

LOL ... we WERE giving them whatever money, it has now been stripped/stopped (?). No doubt some Labor Government started this.
Just how much of OUR taxpayers money is going to stuff we CITIZENS do not agree with?
What can we do about it?
Educate our children? Rather than let the State School System tell our kids what it is all about?
I have done a good job, my daughter is a righty ...

The point is how many Islamic schools are there being funded? There are dozens of them in Sydney.

I presume that ALL schools get some Commonwealth funds but the STATE Government is who manages them ...Black Orchid wrote:The point is how many Islamic schools are there being funded? There are dozens of them in Sydney.
Therefore ... Islamic Schools in the State of NSW is covered by the NSW State Government, with the usual ...% from the Commonwealth Government.
Blame the NSW Government. Your Council Taxes. So YOU are funding the Islamic schools.

I detest Baird and his Government. He is always advocating for MORE refugees to be dumped in Sydney, allocated $146 Million just to Sydney's share of the Syrians and couldn't give a damn about issues like homeless kids.
He's a jerk and has kept his head down a bit lately as Sydneysiders were on the brink of lynching him.

BTW the school is funded by both the State and Federal Governments. I don't know what the shared percentages are though.

I think that you will find that the STATE Government covers most of it .... despite the leftards carrying on about Private Schools.Black Orchid wrote:BTW the school is funded by both the State and Federal Governments. I don't know what the shared percentages are though.
EVERY school gets a certain percentage of Federal Government funds ......... including the ISLAM "registered" schools.

He doesn't acknowledge problems unless they are ones he can rightly or wrongly blame the Coalition for.
He probably shares Sarah Hanson-Dumbs opinion about deaths at sea... ACCIDENTS HAPPEN...
He seems to have no solution to the problems caused by Muslim Immigration though, just stupidity.
Oh and yes... South West Sydney is big on immigrant groups...
We have a ME Crime Squad in Sydney. Oh and lets not like Red, just ignore the jihadis and the terrorists we have in gaol. Why are Muslims over-represented in our gaols. Vietnamatta used to be the drug capital of Australia and headquarters for Asian crime gangs. We have problems with South Pacific Islanders and gangs. Sudanese gangs in Melbourne run riot.
So come on Red lets just look at 1 of those problems and tell us what you would do with the Muslim problem, you can't tell a Good Muslim from a Bad Muslim just by looking at them... apart from letting them all run free and be a threat to your fellow Australians what is your solution to the problem?
How does multiculti help our society when diversity policy has been proven to increase isolation and disharmony in societies?
Come on Red, lets see what you really think for a change eh.
Red's got nothing.... how unusual...

Re: Ban Muslims?
Should these children be allowed back into Australia? I say a resounding NO.
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/la ... da47ff5175A new video has surfaced that reportedly shows the youngest son of Australian IS terrorist Khaled Sharrouf wearing a suicide vest and threatening to murder Australians.
Cabinet minister Matt Canavan has described the video and treatment of the boy as a form of child abuse.
"It is reprehensible it, has to be condemned and I trust the proper authorities will look into this matter," he told Sky News on Sunday.
It's not the first time Sharrouf has used his children in this way.
He first gained infamy in 2014 after another of his sons was pictured holding the severed head of slain Syrian soldier.
News Corp Australia said on Sunday the video was shot recently and shows the eight-year-old being asked questions including, "How do you kill an Australian?", by his father who was off-camera.
A police spokesman said the NSW Joint Counter Terrorist Team was investigating the video, but said "there is no specific threat."
Australia's terrorism threat level remains at 'probable', he said."
Senator Canavan said he did not have enough information on if the child could be allowed to return to Australia, but he said he felt for the boy.
"It's not his fault that his father is an evil megalomaniac seeking to abuse his own children."
In 2015, there were unconfirmed reports Sharrouf had died in a drone strike in Mosul. However he continues to be the subject of an active arrest warrant.
He went to fight with Islamic State in Syria in 2013, a year after being released from prison for his role in a terrorism plot.
His wife, Tara Nettleton, died in 2015, leaving the children in the Middle East. Her mother Karen has tried unsuccessfully to bring the children back to Australia
