Certainly not pulling a stunt that costs normal mum and dad investors money. Here's a definition of peaceful for you
peace·ful
/ˈpēsfəl/
Adjective
Free from disturbance; tranquil
Do you find the panic and ultimate loss of investments suffered by ordinary people 'peaceful and free from disturbance ' Boxy?

Anyone who thinks they can make money on the Stock Market (without losing) is stupid. Even more stupid are retirees who think they can become millionaires with their super. Gamblers NEVER win.boxy wrote:And then they just handed over their account details and password?IQS.RLOW wrote:Because random guy pretended to be ANZ bank honcho with fake email address and all and answered the phone as suchboxy wrote:Why exactly did people believe some random guy making such a statement?

LOL, in context you numpty. That would make the "peaceful protest" a tautology, as all protest is a disturbance.Black Orchid wrote:Certainly not pulling a stunt that costs normal mum and dad investors money. Here's a definition of peaceful for you

No, in this context you would be looking for "not involving war or violence", ie. non-violent protest, which this is.

I was pointing out the obvious similarity to Nigerian email scams. It's pretty amazing that people didn't confirm the information directly from the source (rather than calling a number supplied by the email) when so much was at stake.

Shares are a long term investment and if viewed as such usually reap gainsNeferti~ wrote:Anyone who thinks they can make money on the Stock Market (without losing) is stupid. Even more stupid are retirees who think they can become millionaires with their super. Gamblers NEVER win.
Retirees have had their super invested in many ways for many years, including shares. I very much doubt they grab a small amount of money they have hidden under the mattress, invest it in the stock market and expect to become instant millionaires. Really

Well it didn't come in an email from Nigeria did it?Moylan and and an activist group, Frontline Action On Coal, created the fake media release, using a real ANZ statement as a template, bought a website name and a dummy ANZ email address for about $25 on the internet

I guess everyone isn't as smart as you Boxy

You keep changing the bar. Maybe you should stick to and/or define which direction you are heading in. I am guessing you are now off on a tangent about the intelligence of investors?

Yes. But ... It is still a gamble. They are better off putting $20 notes down the pokies. The ONLY safe way is a CASH investment (Government Bonds). If you haven't made it by the time you are "retirement age" FORGET it.Black Orchid wrote:Shares are a long term investment and if viewed as such usually reap gainsNeferti~ wrote:Anyone who thinks they can make money on the Stock Market (without losing) is stupid.
