Interesting that you think that is acceptable behaviour.

It's called contractual obligation and risk mitigation. its the reason why some people make good businessmen and why some fail at it. It's possible that Telstra is responsible for it and it would be costed into the $11Bn they received, but it wouldn't surprise me that somewhere within the contract that costs will be borne by the govt/taxpayer because 'airtightness' has never been a priority with this or any govt when it comes to business sense.

You said that that they would have known that these serious health risks were likely to arise... that's a pretty big negligence and OHS issue.
But you describe it more like good business sense, than a total lack of morals.

Hard to believe that Telstra didn't know about asbestos in their pits. Before they outsourced this kind of work their own workers were put through proper safety and training courses in relation to handling asbestos.
Hard to believe the government wouldn't have had an inkling of it either.

I didnt say anything like that at all.
It's only a big OHS issue if you have numpties digging up the pits. Negligence arises from the NBN contracting to numpties who dig up the pits. The issue of asbestos in pits has been known for years in the telecommunications industry...if the govt and NBN didn't account for it or that they have contracted companies set up by union mates who in turn sub-contract numpties to feather their own pockets, is that Telstras fault or the govt?

That's exactly what you said. But, of course, you were talking out your arse, like usual.
Telstra's chief operations officer Brendon Riley says an audit of all the underground pits will be finished by tomorrow.
As part of the NBN rollout, Telstra is required to repair and modernise the telecommunications pits around the country.
While Telstra has strict guidelines concerning asbestos management and removal, it has outsourced the job in Penrith to sub-contractors Service Stream.
There have been similar breaches at NBN sites in Ballarat, Victoria and Mandura, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. But Mr Riley says the asbestos at those two sites has already been removed.
Mr Riley says Telstra takes full responsibility for the clean-up.
"We are going to be taking responsibility for all field supervision of asbestos-related remediation. We're going to take on responsibility for all of the training in terms of asbestos handling for ourselves and our contractors... we already do it for ourselves," he said.

How very uninformative. You disagree with the above statement but are saying what exactly?
In denial you are saying it's not possible that Telstra is responsible?
Also that no costs will be borne by the government or the taxpayers?
You can't have it both ways.

Telstra admits it fucked up. So what is the point?
