In reality, the people smugglers couldn't organise a chook raffle on pay day in the front bar of a Pub.
They seem to be doing quite well.
You appear to forget such things as travel times
2 days. How long do you think it takes?
You appear also to have forgotten the time it takes to organise a boat, passengers, etc. How long do you think that takes?
I'd say thousands are already lined up and ready so it wouldn't take much time at all. First in line first in the boat.
The UNHCR in Jakarta has about 11,000 asylum seekers and refugees registered
On January 27 they left with 34 other asylum seekers, bound for Australia.

They were intercepted of Christmas Island on January 29

....

At least Dole bludgers are honest.

Honestly hopeless, but honest none the less.
Well I'm generally pretty honest ... too honest for my own good at times ... but at least those who know me or have to deal with me know I'm not telling them rubbish.

In may I got laid off work for 3 months (wound up being best part of 4 months) ...I've been on the dole several times previously, so know the drill.
I made what money I had last as long as I could, because being on the dole usually means running around doing pointless errands for the sake of activity itself. Which takes up time and fuel (= $) ... I suspect this is meant to annoy potential bludgers into taking a job they don't want.

When I was down to $70 after 3 weeks I applied for the dole. Nobody could explain or give a reason why I was being mucked around but it took 7 weeks from applying to being paid.

Within a fortnight of getting on the dole my employer called me in, so I told the job agency I wouldn't turn up for an appointment as I was quitting the dole because I was working again.

Turned out we got 2 days work and were laid off again for 2 weeks , so changed my plan and stayed on the dole, and will continue to until work picks up again ... get a few days here and there currently .. eg 6 days in last fortnight.

Anyway a week after I got on the dole they changed the job application reporting regime from paper forms handed in to the job agency to doing it online via a 'MyGov' account.

I'm required to apply for 20 jobs a month, but so far there's never been 20 or more job vacancies in the relevant fields advertised on the 'job active' section of MyGov ... so to tick the boxes, I apply for jobs that I'll never get or are not qualified for.
I'm qualified for several jobs in metal industries, agricultural industries and driving bull dozers ... but last week I applied for a hairdressing job and a beauty therapist job. Dishonest? Yes. But I don't set the arbitrary rules I must comply with, nor have any influence over the job vacancies they advertise.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

Sure of that? When was the last time they managed to land a boat in Australia? !8 months ago. Before that, 3 years ago. If they are doing so well, why are they failing to achieve their objective? Mmmm?

They had to travel 2,000 km in a boat which would, at best average about 10 knots speed. That would take them basically 11 days. This was a not a speed boat, this was a fishing boat. Fishing boats are not noted for their speed.

I'd say thousands are already lined up and ready so it wouldn't take much time at all. First in line first in the boat.
And I would say you are wrong. The bottom fell out of the people smuggling trade when the Indonesian Government started cracking down on it over five years ago. There is a reason why we went from over a hundred boats a year to less than 1 and it was only partially the hard line taken by the Australian Government. When the Indonesians started cracking down on people smugglers - making it harder for people to travel to Indonesia without a Visa or Passport and stopping boats from leaving Indonesian harbours, willy-nilly.

That was in 2014 and it concerned a boat which left Indonesia for Christmas Island. We are talking about a boat which would have had leave West New Guinea and travelled to the Daintree River on the East Coast of Cape York, a distance of approximately 2,000 kilometres. When travelling at a maximum speed of approximately 10 knots that would have taken them 11 days. Do the maths, BO, please. There is a world of difference between what was occurring four years ago and what occurred this last weekend.

Pauline Hanson on parlimentary bullying

What a shame she isn't above doing a bit of bullying herself. Why did Fraser resign from the PHONies the day he was sworn into the Senate, mmmm?

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has told Derryn Hinch to “go back to New Zealand” in an explosive live television appearance.

Ms Hanson and independent Senator Hinch exchanged barbs on Channel 7’s Sunrise program this morning.

Hanson was detailing what she had achieved with former PM Malcolm Turnbull when Mr Hinch interjected to cast doubt over her claims.

“I could speak to Malcolm Turnbull and he’d listen to what I’d have to say and I got a lot done, I’ve got to say that,” she said. “But I think he’s the type of person who would have taken this personally to actually be thrown out.”

Mr Hinch cut in with “What have you done Pauline?”

The discussion became outright aggressive with Ms Hanson claiming Mr Hinch is “half asleep most of the damn time” and telling him to “get on the next flight out of the country.”

Mr Hinch said in response that telling people to leave Australia was Hanson’s “usual thing” and it was “puerile, stupid.”

Ms Hanson said Mr Hinch needed to “Go back to New Zealand and pick up your manners Derryn, and then come back when you’ve got some manners.”

READ THE TRANSCRIPT

Hanson: And I could speak to Malcolm Turnbull and he’d listen to what I’d have to say and I got a lot done, I’ve got to say that, but I think he’s the type of person who would have taken this personally to actually be thrown out.

Hinch : What have you done Pauline?

Hanson : Derryn I’m not spending the program like this, I could go on with a lot …

Hinch : What you get done?

Hanson: The Singaporean buying up the land, that was one actually you know, so, he listened to what I have to say, medicinal cannabis that was another one through his department ….

There’s a lot … Derryn, I am not …

Hinch: You voted, Pauline you voted against medicinal cannabis, you voted against medicinal cannabis, the Greens and I voted in favour of it and you and your colleagues voted against it. I was shocked. Remember that.

Hanson: Derryn you are so wrong. We have been pushing about medicinal cannabis and fighting for the … You don’t know what you’re talking about …

Hinch: Check Hansard, you and your colleagues voted against it.

Hanson: As usual you don’t have a bloody clue what you’re talking about with the ABCC bill with the flat packing tax with every Derryn, most of the time you vote with the Greens most of the time …

Hinch: Let’s go back to the Hansard …

Hanson: Yes please do and you’ll actually know. Read my speeches that I’ve done of the floor of Parliament Derryn, you wouldn’t have a clue you’re half asleep most of the damn time, you wouldn’t a clue what you’re talking about ….

Hinch: You voted against medicinal cannabis …

Hanson: You vote for the Greens most of the time, you have no idea, look … I’m not here to argue with you, go and pack your bags and get on the next flight out of the country, that’s where you belong.

Hinch: oh that’s your usual thing to everybody, every migrant, get out of the country. I’ve been an Australian citizen since 1980, that sort of argument is puerile, stupid …

Hanson: Go back to New Zealand and pick up your manners Derryn, and then come back when you’ve got some manners.

Yeah Hinch should bugger off and find obscurity. The man is an embarrassing dope.

Good riddance to Pat she has always just been a fan and a pain in the Executive. PHON has done appallingly in the progressive State of Vic for most of its time. Pat was part of that team for all that time... PHON hasn't run in state elections 1999.

The National Executive needs to get rid of the fans and hangers on and start developing a real political party that can deliver results on the ground. A bit of professionalism wouldn't go astray.
