Umm even though the early figures in from marine parks down the South Coast of NSW are that they are working?

I'm not into fishing, coz I'm crap at it, but a lot of people I know are into fishing (both recreational and commercial) so am well aware of how unpopular recently introduced fishing bans/exclusion zones in and around Bundy and the Wide Bay's 'Great Sandy Marine Park' are locally. Particularly when the Qld govt is flat out damming fish breeding grounds in rivers into oblivion.

In the Liebors duplicity exposed on whaling http://ozpolitic.com/polanimal/viewtopi ... 9&start=50 thread I wrote concerning National parks:
... I'm of 2 minds on national parks. While I agree its America's best idea and are required to allow species repopulation, I've become a bit of a NIMBY on them.
Near my bush hideaway a large portion of state forest with cattle leases on it, was resumed by the Qld govt and designated a national park. We've long had a recuring dingo/feral dog problem, and we pretty much wiped out feral cats, we never had a feral pig population/problem, but since the new national park feral dog and pig populations have exploded.
So much so, the ajoining shire has placed a $200 bounty on dingos/feral dogs.
Forestries have sporadic dog and pig baiting programes, but feral in the national park are protected.
There is nothing in the new park that does not exist elsewhere, and I suspect the Nat park designation is invalid/illegal, as I was not able to obtain gold fossicking or exploration permit on the former state forest because 2 Murri tribes have layed competing land rights claims on the same ground, and so no govt depts can issue permits for anything until the dispute is resolved in court...
Seems creating wildlife sanctuaries for ulterior motives has become a favourite tactic for dodgey legislators .... pardon the Trot source ... but isn't it great when idealist zealots dob one another in?
Diego Garcia: Wikileaks confirm Greenpeace-backed `marine protection zone' was a ruse; Police ban socialist protests
http://links.org.au/node/2057
This demonstration follows the Lalit's Conference on Diego Garcia and Chagos held one month ago. The demonstration came just as the Wikileaks site published damning evidence of the British state and the US administration having cynically used British environmentalists in order to create a pretext to assure that the Chagossians do not return to live on Chagos and to assure that the Mauritian state, so far known for its docility, does not take the matter to the UN.

Lalit's open letter to Greenpeace, signed by Ram Seegobin, had already warned the organisation of it being used by the militarists for their war strategies. It has now become public knowledge that the whole of the area is open to military waste, and that the "Marine Protected Area" is just a trick designed to keep the people of Mauritius and Chagos out. Funds were even given to another environmentalist organisation, according to Wikileaks, in order to promote the infamous "Marine Protected Area".

Combined with the Great sandy marine park, more exclusion zones should just about cover the body of water between the Wide Bay and Frazer Island.
Spoze I'll see a heap of 'I fish and I vote' bumber stickers soon.

Call for compo deal for 'no take' fishing zones
