Maybe - but we don't have the Royals as such... Charles III is King of Australia with no powers... he himself made that clear in stating that the interviewer, Ray Martin, had it wrong since he (Charles) was not the boss.

It is well within our province as a nation to formulate our own republic along our own lines, and still remain a part of the Commonwealth. By no stretch of the imagination does that imply that we are subordinate to the Crown or to Britain in any way, but we could get rid of all the hangers-on at Governor etc level, who, as the Canberra Coup demonstrated, remain a hidden danger to our democracy as well as a waste of well-earned and a spot to give an old mate a sinecure and pay for life - the infamous "old boys and girls networks".

You must decide what kind of country you want - I already know for my part.....
