McKenzie is history ... she aped Ros Kelly and got caught.
Morrison won't back her, and all the Nats bar McCormack are saying her position is untenable.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

Dunno why the Lefties are getting so excited over this GetUp! farce as she is in the SENATE and the Nationals could simply replace her as there would be NO election and the status quo would NOT change at all.

Nationals leader Michael McCormack says his deputy Bridget McKenzie retains his support.

Rorting was far worse under the failed Labor "Govt". Recall the school halls under Juliar Gillard.

Nationals leader Michael McCormack says his deputy Bridget McKenzie retains his support, amid calls for her resignation over a contentious Federal Government $100 million pre-election cash splash.

Key points:
Bridget McKenzie is facing calls to resign after an auditor-general's report revealed the Government allocated sports grants to marginal electorates the Coalition wanted to win
Nationals leader Michael McCormack and Finance Minister Mathias Cormann defended Senator McKenzie's conduct
Labor frontbencher Jason Clare said taxpayer money should not be used to win "brownie points" in marginal electorates

Senator McKenzie is resisting pressure to step down from the frontbench, after an auditor-general's report revealed the Government allocated sports grants to seats the Coalition wanted to win.

According to the auditor-general, the funding was allocated by then-sports minister Bridget McKenzie in the lead-up to last year's election in a way that "was not informed by an appropriate assessment process and sound advice".

The auditor-general found "73 per cent of the approved projects had not been recommended by Sport Australia".

Instead, funding was targeted toward marginal electorates.

In a statement, Mr McCormack praised Senator McKenzie's work as Sports Minister and said the grants program had delivered long-term benefits to local communities.

The findings from the auditor-general were released on Wednesday, and the report into the Community Sports Infrastructure Grant program discovered "evidence of distribution bias in the award of grant funding".

"Minister McKenzie retains my support and the outcomes delivered in her capacity as Sports Minister have made a significant difference to the recipient communities," Mr McCormack said.

He said senator Richard Colbeck was addressing the recommendations of the report from the auditor-general.

'Dodgy as all hell'
Labor frontbencher Jason Clare described Senator McKenzie's conduct as "dodgy as all hell" and said Prime Minister Scott Morrison should explain what involvement he had in the program.

"What did he know and when did he know it?" he said.

"We need answers from the Prime Minister about whether he knew what was going on here, and what involvement he had and his office had in allocating this money during the election campaign to marginal seats."

He called for Senator McKenzie to resign or be sacked and said taxpayer money should not be used to win "brownie points" in marginal electorates.

"This is dodgy as all hell," he said.

Political pork-barrelling

Australia has a long, not so proud and not particularly creative history of political pork-barrelling, but this time it's different, writes David Speers.
"We have an audit office report that says we don't know if she had the legal authority to make these decisions.

"We have a smoking gun in the form of a document from her office where they've colour-coded the marginal seats, showing they've allocated money based on how safe the seat is."

Cormann defends conduct
Finance Minister Mathias Cormann rejected the notion that marginal electorates were targeted with the grants, saying Senator McKenzie had reviewed the findings from the auditor-general and would take them on board in the future.

"These are processes administered by ministers, that's the usual way," he said.

"Let's be very clear, all of the projects that received were eligible to receive those grants.

"As the auditor-general recognised, the intent of the program was absolutely achieved.

"This is quite different from grants programs that were run under the Labor administration where the auditor-general made quite harsher findings than that."

Reddy is excited. Dunno why, as Bridget is in the SENATE and so there would be NO election as the Nats can simply nominate a replacement for her.

Bit of a non event really which is why ScoMo has lost interest in it. Another bit of GetUp! FAKE NEWS bites the dust.

Morrison protected Liu and that left a bad taste in my mouth. Protecting Bridget on top of that is one step too far for me.

I would like to see them both gone.

I wish more people shared that sentiment, so that they stopped voting these fuckwits in.
