Look at the massive errors the US makes with their indiscriminate bombings and wrong targets, but their leaders always get a hearty welcome wherever they go and aren't treated like pariahs.

Name one country the US have invaded and annexed? When the US accidentally shot down a passenger jet they owned up to it, apologised and paid compensation... so should russia.

I can name more than one country the US has invaded and not paid compensation to their victims - Iraq and Afghanistan for a start. The US has invaded at least 50 countries since WW2 and if they apologised and paid compensation to all those people wrongfully slaughtered - they would no longer exist as a superpower.

So as far as apologising for the downing of 317 - look at it this way. We have been dropping caches of arms to the Kurds. At least one cache out of 10 are being picked up by ISIS. Will we apologise and pay remuneration to all those innocent people who are slaughtered either in the crossfire or deliberately? I don't think so.
