I think it's an insult to our nations defense force personnel, why must they wear a uniform which is supposed to represent a soldiers respect, honor and devotion to serving ones nation, not be used as a mere accessory to promote gay pride for added "peacock effect" at a Mardi Gras parade.
I personally find it disrespectful, and so typical of them impinging on our social and cultural values, the rights of others, with a view to upholding theirs.
You don't gain acceptance, tolerance and respect from others by disrespecting, demeaning and desecrating their traditions and whats dear to them.
Why don't they reinvent the Australian flag and our national anthem while they are at it?
The thing is... we are all Australian, but we aren't all gay.
I fear that for some, particularly those who come from a proud traditional military background this will breed contempt rather than promote social understanding, acceptance of our gay community.
Service members in uniform should not appear to endorse or selectively benefit groups or individuals, provide a platform for a political message, or appear to be commercially sponsored. They also must ensure their presence in uniform is not intended to increase sales and business traffic.
If poofs and lesbians get to wear the Aussie uniform while they are being shot at, they can wear it anywhere, including at a poof and lesbo parade, especially after the ADF brass gave permission. You are being a precious bigot as usual.
I'm afraid I beg to differ, this and think the ADF uniform should not be worn for the purpose of making a cheap political statement and or for it's "peacock effect" irrespective of the kind of parade it is.

No, really...

It's my opinion, and I'm entitled to it.
Just as you have yours Boxy.
You speak of tolerance, yet you seemingly struggle to tolerate those who's views are not consistent with yours.
It seems wearing a Police uniform at the Mardi Gras is tokenism of a far worse kind. "One punch can kill," eh. Not, it seems, if you are a copper thug:
