Today I don't think women consider whether their partner will give their children the best dna, otherwise we wouldn't have so many dysfunctional kids around.
Interesting, why do you link DNA with dysfunctional children?
Dysfunctional children are usually linked to poor parenting. DNA would have to be a major contributing factor in a person's malfunctioning and the DNA in a person changes because of environmental, physical, intellectual and emotional attributes and then it gets passed onto the next generation.

Do women generally check out the family history going back a couple of generations before they decide on the father of their children? Your friends the career woman and the lesbian possibly might have with a sperm donor. Most women probably wouldn't bother, but only look at the superficial qualities of a man as a guide to procreation.

Saying the same thing using active rather than passive language...

In general, poor parenting causes dysfunctional children.
DNA would have to be a major contributing factor in a person's malfunctioning
Hang on a tick... is it poor parenting as a major contributor to dysfunctional children, is it DNA or is it both?

Since it is that bad parenting is a social and moral rather than physical or intellectual issue, are you suggesting that DNA determines our social morality to such an extent that a person's parental potential is severely impaired?

Such a view has serious implications for free will... making us all puppets to our DNA.

Most people are not aware that they are doing it... but they do... indeed all societies has formalized the process through courtship, which we now know as dating or through more formal arrangements such as arranged marriages and match makers.

That is a very old school attitude Ted... particularly given that women have the capacity to earn also. But definitely a person's income and job are indicative of a persons abilities and attitudes which are weighted more heavily than merely income.

ABS wrote:The last 25 years have seen substantial changes in women’s economic circumstances. In particular, the proportion of women earning their own incomes has risen, and levels of economic autonomy experienced by women have increased. Many of these changes have been associated with improvements in women’s educational qualifications, training and work-related experience.
