The info does vary in it's depth, I think most of it is pretty straight forward, but then I'm not everyone.

Maybe I'll put up a point summary.

Carbon pricing of course was the big uncertainty hanging over the economy and now that is fixed. Even if Abbott were to become PM he would not rescind the Carbon Price and the electorate does not believe he would.
The biggest issue with the carbon tax is that it's a distraction for us while the government prepares to delve into international carbon trading. It makes no sense as it has not been proved successful and is open to rorting. The ordinary person isn't going to benefit from this, but just end up subsidising another gambling venue for the big boys who pull the government's strings.

You think that all people on low or middle incomes are given subsidies by the government - wrong! Only those on Govt. benefits are. There is a proportion of the single population who don't go anywhere near welfare and prefer to stand on their own in hard times. They still have to pay their taxes and electricity bills though.
Wasn’t going to post here for a while but Mantra’s astounding stupidity and ignorance have to be answered.

All but a handful of the very wealthiest Australians get compensation. I have talked of the tripling of the tax free threshold enough that Mantra should know better.

Those that work get tax cuts, where a family get Family Tax Benefit A gets an increase, etc.

We don’t have a carbon tax. We have an ETS with fixed price permits for a couple of years (you can thank the Greens for that nonsense.)

IQ, you can find out the answers to your questions from the Department website.

The stupidity here is beyond belief!

yes it is JM.
Mostly yours it would seem.
So have you actually read anything other people post? Links etc.
I know you didn't here.
Or there come to think of it.

Of course all those unemployed people won't see much benefit from the tax free threshold will they. Still they will see increases in cost of living etc won't they. That is the point of the TAX isn't it. BTW it is a TAX... :du

Newstart recipients also got carbon price compensation.

You say it is a tax, prove it:

Point out the features of a carbon tax

Point out the features of an ETS

Construct an argument that we do indeed have a carbon tax—you will have trouble since we don’t.

How about you list your views on the above first, hey, Monk? No cutting and pasting. Everyone knows how old and decrepit you are, Monk, but you don't have to pretend that you run this show.

Rorschach seems quite capable without your directions.

PS I thought you said on your Blog that you would never, ever post here again. Were you lying?

Ahem... ah JM, even the government have said the ETS won't start for a few years yet.

Tax, levy, excise... take your pick. :roll

You do know what ETS stands for don't you JM?

Oh almost forgot.
Newstart recipients - the money they get will be gobbled up (in NSW) by the first electricty bill they get.
First off they'd need a boost in benefits just to survive the daily cost of living. They only get, (singles), about half what they need a week to keep their heads above water.

Yes, it is compensation for the Carbon Price, d’uh! They can expect a boost to basic Newstart allowance too before long.
