Being in debt does not equal being bankrupt. That's a wrecker's bullshit argument. As long as we are easily able to service that debt, it is a good thing to borrow for useful investment.

I agree, euthanasia is a bigger issue, and the republic, and multiple other things. Only the republic deserves expenditure on a plebiscite, however. The rest should be dealt with in ordinary parliamentary business.

Most Australians don't really care one way or the other and will abide by the majority vote but to be bullied into being denied their opinion is far more likely to have negative consequences.

Any proposed Bill should also be released prior to the vote and we need to study Canada before we put labels on people for merely questioning SSM where discipline, termination of employment and prosecution by the government have become rife.
