SO in other words he had committed a crime, served the time and was not fit to be a govt minister or hold a position of power?
Fuck me drunk- you'd excuse him if he was selling smack to kids in the education system under him

When you wonder why labor supporters are looked upon as the scum of the earth, just remember this thread as an example of your dumbfuckery

You're kidding me right?

The guy had a conviction for heroin trafficking and had served a term in jail for it.

Hint: look up the word trafficking

SO in other words he had committed a crime, served the time and was a normal member of society?
NO! He committed a stupid bloody crime, got convicted and jailed, THEN applied for and got a senior position as NSW education minister (with no background in education) AND which required the teachers and employees under his portfolio to pass relevant criminal record checks .. the same checks he himself COULD NOT pass.

Ya dig?

Yes and so again the heroin dealing is circumstantial its the committing of a crime thats the issue. Thats what I'm trying to say.

Jaywalking is a crime too
It is the nature of the crime that's of relevance to his position

So then a conviction for child molesting would be the same as shoplifting for you? You would give either a job looking after kids?

Living in Canberra I know a lot of public servants here and a few that run these types of police checks. They all say the issue is not whether you commit a crime, so much as whether you don't tell them.

WTF is that supposed to mean? A conviction and time spent in jail can't be hidden. Normal standard routine criminal record checks reveal this type of information.

So you would give a child molester a job looking after children as long as he told you?
