I have invested for myself for over 30 years. It is very stressful.
The SMSF is 'promoted' as an easy thing to do where everyone makes lots of money.
I believe it is the opposite.
Pick one of the better run super funds. Give them the money, take the stress off yourself.
In all likelihood they will do better than any individual.
Your friends emotions will make that very hard to do.
Take it easy on your friend emotionally.

Yes, I think the whole smsf gig is indeed a fiasco....he'll sort it out hopefully....
