I think you'll find that gold is full of traps.
It's too risky to store yourself and sell it.
In the big city people will kill you for $5 - what will they do for
a huge amount of gold?
Even if you store it a secure licensed place fully insured, the Govt. will know all about it
and if they think you haven't paid capital gains tax or
for any other reason they can confiscate it and leave you
trying to win it back in court -
good luck with that.
It's probably better to get your money out of the country
into the Chase Manhattan bank in the USA.
Even then if you try and get it back you'll have the Govt. chasing after you for tax
or if you're on a pension the Govt. will find out and could cancel that pension.
