The world is normally much colder.
It's approximately 100,000 years of cold to 10,000 years of heat in a continuous cycle.
A full new ice age will happen given enough time -
it could be within 100 years or it may be not be before 1000s of years - but it will happen.

Looking forward 100 million or more years the world will get much hotter as the sun slowly uses up it's hydrogen
and starts nuclear burning of heavier elements.
Within 500 million years the world will be burnt to a crisp.
Within 4 billion years the sun will swell up into a red giant and swallow the Earth.

Most of the heat is generated upon the night side of the planet. Where the pollution is preventing a ratio of heat to escape out into space and is refracting back, much like on Venus. Visually I see a lot of well lit up cities that look like fires on the night side as well.
