That's actually quite a shame. If you had any brains whatsoever, you would have invested in the stock market like I did in 2013 and I topped up in 3Q2016. Averaging around 75% capital growth and a return of 14.8% /year in dividends.

It must really suck to be a leftist.

some people dont invest in their own country.......all they do is put it down....

What about those who shop at Aldi? What about those who shop online and buy computer stuff from the USA or China?

Are there ANY Australian manufacturers? Apart from wine and beer? :rofl

The last time I bought an Australian-made piece of clothing was from a little "exclusive" Shop at Kippax, called Holly Grove and Emma, the owner, sold ALL Australian made items .... expensive ... $99 for a top ... but worth it. She is now in Manuka, I think, or Woden.

I found a couple of boxes of old clothes in the garage of mine and the kids. They are still in immaculate condition and the tags all say Made in Australia. Such a shame that everything is now made in China or Bangladesh. It used to be the cheap things that were made there but now all the expensive labels carry a Made in China label too.

My youngest just came back from the USA and he bought lots of clothes there. ALL were made in the USA and the quality is so far over and above the crap we are dumped with here, it's not funny.

its our own fault though the consumer is the one that calls the shots...

and aussies want cheap...look what we did to Bonds...it really is our own doing....along with top end wages of course..

we cant have it both ways....America has far far more people buying their own brands than we have....
god we used to make cars and washing machines......people like Bill Shorten should be ashamed of what they have done via pure greed..when they go for more money they never take into account all the holidays we get here.....they dont get them in America or Britain....and Penalty rates are blown out of the sky...

Left wing policies are the biggest confidence killers because they cause instability.
And by taxing the shit out of everything, destroy the incentive generate income here.
Thus driving the brain drain.

Getting back to the renewable energies issue. The greatest irony of the subsidy scam - RET -
is that it makes the greatest subsidy scam of all time - Nuclear Power - look almost economically
viable.
Our energy market is so distorted because of the hobbling and handicaps of the economically viable sources, via the RET, in favour of uneconomically viable renewables.

Investment in renewables has been for the most part to cash in on the RET subsidy scam.
Now the energy market is such a disaster, Telstra is going to build a 160 hectare solar [photo-voltaic]
power station near Emerald in central Qld to offset its massive blowout in electricity costs.

PV/silicone solar panels and mini turbines are good enough to compete with coal and gas on their own terms,
because ultimately PV solar is the cheapest in the long run. Big windmill style turbines are a joke. When the wind subsides those turbines draw power from the grid to keep them turning, so in my book a dud.

For renewables to stand on their own feet and earn honest investor confidence the RET must be abolished.
The RET is giving renewables a bad name. When the RET goes, the committed will do the R&D to make their pet renewable economically viable.

When our economy tanks due to unsustainable property speculation dependent on Ching Chong Chinaman,
it wont be because of negative gearing or allowing new home buyers to access the superannuation for a
deposit, it'll be because the Laborals are suckling on China's tit.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

I want the Adani coal mine to be cancelled and the people of north

I want to pay less tax than I reeive from the government in benefits.

Nope. Intermittent, unreliable, unstable and highly inefficient energy sources are actually worse than useless in every case whether standalone or connected to a grid. They barely rate for 3rd world level subsistence.

Nothing to do with Left vs right except some who claim to be right don't give a shit about anything except short term economics.

The threat of man made climate change is real.

I don't believe anyone will a real brain thinks it's not real however they don't like the potential impact on their companies, stocks and their part in the economy.

Asia, Germany and those countries that look further ahead then the next quarters results will do better in the long term and the economics promoted by the USA will eventually be it's long term downfall. We sell our country to those that don't permit us to buy there. very short term thinking on our part. An example of how stupid we are.

The only impact of Trumps decision will be the progressive decline of the USA being in a leading position of future world policies. They will then decide to flex their muscles and start a war somewhere to secure their interests.

In the US environment matters are mainly controlled by the states. California one of the largest economies in the world will seek to honour the agreement and other states will too. By the time Trump gets thrown out and the next president signs up again may be a chance for them to get back on board. But the loss of US position in the world is worrying. Putin must be having a good laugh.
According to a new report (pdf) released by analysts at the recent Bonn climate talks, the president’s rollback of current climate regulations, if successful, could cause the U.S. to release 0.4 gigatonne more carbon dioxide in annual emissions in the year 2030 than if those policies remained. That gap gets much larger when the report authors accounted for Trump’s decision to dump the Climate Action Plan, which was created by the Obama administration but has not yet been fully implemented. That would create 1.8 gigatonnes more CO2 in 2030 than the past administration had envisioned—about 31 percent of 2005 U.S. emissions. “This amounts to a very significant reversal of the downward trajectory that U.S. emissions have been on,” explains Bill Hare, one of the report authors and CEO of Climate Analytics, a nonprofit climate science and policy institute. “Under Trump's policies the U.S. will fall far short of its Paris climate goals.”
Trump is a vandal.

And for the deniers... I am not interested in your propaganda sites. Lets stick to science sites with a reasonable reputation.

https://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/

The current warming trend is of particular significance because most of it is extremely likely (greater than 95 percent probability) to be the result of human activity since the mid-20th century and proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented over decades to millennia.1
Earth-orbiting satellites and other technological advances have enabled scientists to see the big picture, collecting many different types of information about our planet and its climate on a global scale. This body of data, collected over many years, reveals the signals of a changing climate.
