The most interesting swimming race will be the men's 1500 with Mack Horton facing Sun Yang in a grudge match.
Heat 5 on Saturday 13 August Mack Horton facing Sun Yang. Horton has the fastest time this year while Sun Yang is the 1500 m world record holder and 2012 Olympic champion.

There is MUCH MORE to the Olympics than Swimming. There may, perhaps, be some more medals for the Aussies in the rest of the Games.

Good to see us win Gold in the 100 freestyle .... almost 50 years since we did that. Goodonya Kyle Chalmers. I always love to see a competitor put the foot to the metal at the last 50 metres and pass everyone in the field. Bloody well done!

When a nation hosts an Olympics they get to introduce another sport to it.
For example Japan introduced Judo (yes I did Judo), Korea introduced Taikwondo (no I did Hapkido) and Australia introduced Triathlon (yes I did the swim legs of teams events in Triathlon for my old man's sports club).
My main sport was endurance swimming, but never got to Olympic levels, although was told I would make the Commonwealth games if I was more disiplined/dedicated. So of course that's one of the few sports I bother to watch, although I've gone without telly for 6 years now, so just read the result in the paper.

Anyway, I was wondering what sport Brazil will introduce? ... Public muggings?
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

Brazil has introduced TWO new sports ... GOLF and Rugby Sevens .... the Aussie girls have already received GOLD for the Rugby Sevens.

More information here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Summer_Olympics
The two new sports for 2016 Olympic Games are golf and rugby sevens. There were two open spots for sports and initially seven sports began the bidding for inclusion in the 2016 program. Baseball and softball, which were dropped from the program in 2005, karate, squash, golf, roller sports, and rugby union all applied to be included. Leaders of the seven sports held presentations in front of the IOC executive board in June 2009.[36]

Karate and surfing have been announced as the two new sports to be added to the next Olympics. I think it's in Japan?
