Well I hardly think that photo or the claim re 2 seats is the norm... and you have to admit those jeans do look like a problem.

Yes the jeans look ridiculously tight but if he cannot sit down properly he should choose another style 8-)

I thought this thread (upon seeing the title) was going to be about blokes getting fat or pot bellies, and was preparing to comment on all the fat women in central Qld. But as it turns out, no, it's about posture.

I don't sit with my legs anywhere near apart as that in the original pic, but the reason I don't sit with my legs close together either, is because doing so makes my scrotum sweaty.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

I really don't see a problem. :stop
Why aren't men allowed to sit comfortably. :b :meet :b
Just another step by some vocal minorities trying to control someone else
Imagine the outcry from feminists if men started complaining about women sitting the way that we would love to :thumb

I haven't used public transport in yonks but can't say I ever saw any males "spreading" to take up twice their seat space. I think morbidly obese people are worse. There would be no way to "nudge" them to take up less space.

These lard asses need to be required to pay more for all transportation services, particularly on airlines where weight requirements for luggage are strict. Why should I, with a healthy BMI and weight, be restricted to two 50 lb pieces of luggage on an international flight when the obese are carrying one or more 50 lb pieces of luggage as body fat?

There should be a few seats put aside which are larger than average for those who are obese. At one time the airlines were going to charge for two seats, but that didn't eventuate.

This person says the seats are getting smaller.
Here's What It Feels Like to Be a Fat Person on a Plane.

Nobody wants to sit next to a fat person on a plane. Don't think we don't know.

I have, in my life, been a considerably thinner person and had a fat person sit next to me on a plane. I have also, more recently, been the fat person that makes other travelers' faces fall. Anecdotally, I can verify that being the fat person is almost indescribably worse.

This year, for the first time ever, I got on a plane and discovered that I didn't fit in the seat. I've always been fat, but I was the fat person that still mostly fit. I mean, I couldn't fit into clothes (MORE TUNICS PATTERNED LIKE A PARISIAN SUITCASE, PLEASE), and I had to be careful with butt safety (I'll take the chair side, not the banquette, thanks), but I was still the kind of fat person who could move through the straight-size world without causing too many ripples. Until this fall.

It's been an incredibly busy year for me professionally—I've probably flown 20 times in the past eight months—and one day I sat down and it just didn't work. I was on a flight home from Texas, I think, and the flight out there had been fine. Suddenly, on the return flight, I had to cram myself in. I mean, I know I ate that brisket, but I was only gone for two days! I'm no butt scientist (at least, not certified...ANYMORE), but how fast could a person's butt possibly grow!?

If you've never tried cramming your hips into a jagged metal box that's an inch or two narrower than your flesh (under the watchful eye of resentful tourists), then sitting motionless in there for five hours while you fold your arms and shoulders up like an origami orchid in order to be as unobtrusive as possible, RUN DON'T WALK. It's like squeezing your bones in a vise. The pain makes your teeth ache. It fucking hurts.

But even worse than any physical pain is the anxiety of walking up the aisle and not knowing what plane you're on. Am I going to fit this time? Will I have to ask for a seatbelt extender? Is this a 17-incher or an 18-incher? Did I get on early enough that I can get myself crammed in before someone comes and sits next to me? Is the person next to me going to hate me? Does everyone on this plane hate me? I paid money for this?

People's butts might be getting bigger, sure, but it's a certainty that seats are getting smaller.

I googled and found that airline seats are between 43 and 48.25 cm wide. (about 17 and 19 inches).

http://www.traveller.com.au/which-airli ... eats-320vc

Those people who measure 2 axe handles across the backside (morbidly obese) need to diet to lose weight ... or pay for 2 seats so they fit in the seat without "spreading" their HUGE bums (and body fat) on to the passenger next to them. Airline seats are NOT getting smaller, passengers are getting BIGGER!

Smokers have had to put up with being considered OUTCASTS for decades in an effort to get them to cease smoking (I stopped years ago) so it is about time we started in on ridiculing the OBESE with lots of TV advertising to get them to cease eating so much and go on a diet and get their weight down to "normal" size. :scare

It's true though and on public transport as well as private. they try to maximize their profits by cramming in as many as they can in the available space. It's like car spaces at shopping centres, they are getting smaller too.

I don't know about car spaces getting smaller at shopping centres, but cars seem to be getting smaller too. :roll
