Libs voting green. Another of those phrases I didn't expect to be saying. It would have taken a few draughts to get that taste out of thier mouths.

Melbourne sure is a strange seat.

A moron replied to a cretin who dribbled “if only Abbott had offered more” with:
Abbott wasn't as stupid as the ALP.
Look where they are now after offering 'more'
Abbott didn’t offer more? Not what Wilkie said, $1Bn for a hospital that didn’t need anything like it? That he (Abbott) would have sold his arse if it had helped him become PM?

skippy, I am not surprised that the sub-cretin level morons you associate with “hate” Julia.

Gillard will be PM until the 2013 election which she will win. She is already one of the great PMs, alongside Curtin and Whitlam. She has shown a smile to all that can be thrown at her, and by god truckloads has! She has shown females that yes you can reach the heights, shit will be thrown at you by pygmies and cowards but you can ignore them and reach the top and achieve great things.

You forgot the word “strategic.”

But you are right, in your amusing way, a LOT of voters in Melbourne didn’t bother voting.

Julia Gillard has succeeded in uniting all Australians in a common cause! That's an historic achievement.

Mining boom forecast to end in two years

So what I read into this, Labor has spent all the surplus and the Mining boom will end. The cycle begins again. Labor gets thrown out and the Libs have to fix it all again. Same cycle everywhere.

Australia was lucky to have little Johnny in when it did.

AE has been predicting the end of the mining boom for 9 years.

And the govt is aware of world economic trends, don’t need AE to tell them that:
Budget surplus is secure: Emerson

Published 8:36 AM, 23 Jul 2012

AAP

Trade Minister Craig Emerson insists the federal budget surplus is secure despite a new report tipping falling revenues and the end of the mining boom.

Dr Emerson says the government does not accept that the budget surplus is all but gone.

“We are returning the budget to surplus,” he told ABC Television.

The minister was responding to a Deloitte Access Economics report which found the mining boom was about to peak and that an economic slowdown was inevitable.

The government would struggle to get the budget back to surplus this financial year as falling mineral prices, a slowdown in the housing sector and sluggish financial markets lead to a drop in revenue, it said.

Dr Emerson said a decline in mineral prices had been factored into the budget as well as a drop in capital gains tax revenue caused by a sharemarket still impacted by the global financial crisis.

Howard got like $300Bn extra revenue and what do we have to show for it? Not a cracker: no NBN that could have been finished by now, no major new roadworks like duplicating the Pacific Hway, Bruce Hway etc. No major now hospital or univerity buildings. Not a cracker.

Howard and Costello blew over $300Bn on pork barreling, buying elections and unsustainable tax cuts.

At least this govt is running out the NBN, spending on education, on health and major infrastructure etc. At the same time Swan is winding back wasteful spending, middleclass welfare etc that Howard left us.

China’s rulers cannot afford for China to go into recession, to leave hundreds of millions of its people in rural poverty, to have urban workers have to return to their villages—or the politburo would wake up one morning hanging from telephone poles by piano wire, dead as a doorknob. China can’t afford to pump prime the global economy but they will stimulate their own economy so sales of coal and iron ore will continue even if at a lesser scale than now.

Not that Labor is just relying on the mining boom—what do you think the NBN is about anyway?

When Keating took over as Treasurer for Howard Treasury Secretary John Stone told him the horrific deficits Treasurer Howard had been running up had to be stopped. Keating fixed the mess the Liberals left!

By the way, idiots, Phil Coorey in the weekend SMH predicted that Julia would last all the way to 2013. I have always felt that.
But the more you look at the mechanics of what is required this time to change leaders, there is an outside chance Labor will go to the next poll under Gillard.

And:
Rudd 'supporter' praises PM's work: SENIOR Labor MP Richard Marles has declared his support for Julia Gillard as...
Oh:
Police sources confirmed the leak did not come from Ms Gillard's office or the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, as had been suspected by Mr Rudd's supporters.

It is believed a computer trace initiated by Australian Federal Police cleared the PM and her staff.

It could only have been taken from a computer hard-drive from Mr Rudd's office either while he was PM or later as foreign affairs minister.

So another beat up by Rudd bites the dust.

Get used to PM Gillard, she will be here for a decade!

And another reform in a long list of major reforms, undoing the grave damage 12 years of Howardism has done to the country:

Gonski reforms overhaul of schools to cost $6.5bn
BY: JUSTINE FERRARI, NATIONAL EDUCATION CORRESPONDENT
From: The Australian July 23, 2012 12:00AM

THE federal government is going ahead with sweeping reforms to the school funding system, planning to release its blueprint next month with the ambitious goal of increasing spending on schools by about $6.5 billion.

The formal government response to the independent review of school funding, headed by businessman David Gonski, is set to be debated by cabinet before the end of the month, and will place the states under pressure to also increase their spending on education.

Monk, Why are you spamming/stacking (post upon post) this thread with your cut and pastes?

I think we are fairly evenly balanced here between Liberals, Greens and Labor Members. If anyone spammed your Blog with so many cut and pastes you would immediately delete them!!

You sound awfully angry, Monk, did the Apple Butter turn sour? :Hi

Plenty of my words in there too.

Notice you didn’t say your normal mantra “Abbott will be the next PM” so even you are seeing that the turnaround is well on the way—the clincher there is Phil Coorey—the hacks and grubs of the MSM reckon they mould public opinion but in reality they just reflect it, and Coorey shows the MSM ponderously reversing its anti–Labor stance.
