Mellie,

The ones you really need to bother about are those who are into soft, furry things.

I wasn't far off the mark. I should have thought of the public service. They're in the business of providing non-answers too.Neferti~ wrote:I doubt it.mantra wrote:

I think this winter is going to be mild on the coast north of Sydney. Usually at this time of year it's a few degrees colder. There's been plenty of rain, so maybe this is why. I've noticed the temperature change here over the years and it's been getting cooler, but this winter we haven't gone below 6 degrees.

Lol nef... and I have to agree, my 70 odd year old Indian bio lab teacher (USYD Cumberland campus) was a stark-raving loop at times also.
I recall one early morning (8am start) when a few of us (we were finishing off our coffee's/ cigarettes at the guild) dared to be 2 minutes (at most) late to his 'lab's' whereby he already had the cadavers set out on the benches, (we were studying anatomy and labelling body parts in our lab manuals, well, were supposed to be)... anyway, what set him off was my friend had also forgotten her lab coat, when he just cracked it and began shaking a large piece of dismembered torso (complete with spine and attached rib cage) at all three of us. It was freaking 8am in the morning for christs sakes, I nearly puked, and my friend was disgusted with how he had such disrespect for the deceased who had kindly donated their body to science.
I'm a tad warped and saw the amusing side of it, but thats just me.
Truth is, he works with cadavers every day, and it just happened to be in his hand when we walked through the doors stinking of smoke I guess.
This aside, he was still quite mad.
He probably would have reached retirement age by now I guess...he was not far from it when we were there, and that was a decade ago.
I actually liked him, thought he had character.... memories like this aren't made often.
And believe me, in his labs, you bloody well learned OR ELSE!!
Needles to say, we were never late to labs again.
Ps- I no longer smoke.

I was in Canberra earlier this week. Biting chill would describe the weather up there. Was glad to fly out.Neferti~ wrote:I am sure that we can all relate to this subject.
It was minus 6.3C in Canberra this morning and eventually got to about 10C. Not even cold enough for snow, although we use to have snow falling here regularly in Winter when I first came here.
Still, it's been cold in Melbourne too. I've noticed since making my tree change to the Yarra Ranges, that it is colder there than it is by the sea. Icy cold even.

I moved North to escape the cold, but currently nights in the hills out my way are around zero degrees. Biloela to the North [West of Gladstone] at a higher altitude has had night temps of -2C.

I hear that it is bloody cold in Alice Springs too ..... but not many people live there.Outlaw Yogi wrote:I moved North to escape the cold, but currently nights in the hills out my way are around zero degrees. Biloela to the North [West of Gladstone] at a higher altitude has had night temps of -2C.
Canberra IS cold at this time of year, and I complain like everyone else does about the "weather". I see the Brindabellas from my living room and so far there has been no white peaks on them.

Either you havn't lived in Canberra for long, you're delusional about the past, or you're lying about it.
Strange thing to lie about, though
