Life expectancy in China is 10 years shorter than Japan and the average number of children per woman is 1.6 in China, while it is only 1.4 in Japan. Therefore Japan is aging much more rapidly than China.

Remember the 1 child policy was only applied in 1978 and only applies to married, urban couples (about 36% of the population). The remaining 64% can have multiple children.
Maybe they kill the elderly off - or use them for experiments. As most of them have sons, who aren't renowned for looking after their old parents - they might end up dying sooner than they should through neglect?
They work them to death in fields or in Ipad factories that's if they don't kill themselves first.

Unless you live there or have Chinese friends - you can only get information from articles, opinions, documentaries etc. You see very little mentioned about elderly Chinese, but as they don't have the same health system us western countries are privileged to have - there might be other ways of putting them out of their pain so they don't become a burden.

Every chinese family want sons to look after them in their old age. If you live in an area with chinese residents see how the sons are cosseted, not the girls—it is very obvious. I have Chinese neighbors who have actually pointed this out to me.

What the Chinese state may have problems with is the huge gender disparity following on from the One Child Policy and the chinese preference for sons, leading to female babies being murdered: IIRC there are like 100m chinese young men who have no chance of forming a family and these young men may not look after their parents in old age, they are footloose and fancy free so to speak.
