Sometimes I think for some people that websites are their entire life. There are a lot of people that take this forum way too seriously.

I gather that in the UK (and elsewhere), the predators are not the creepy Old Derelicts who supposedly prey on the young but the reasonably good-looking 20-30 somethings .... ANSWER that! We already know that some middle-aged men go out on the prowl .... but many do NOT.

Is it becoming the same in Australia? Where it doesn't matter how young or old you are, being a female is the main problem?

Will we females be locked in our own homes at night, forever?

Face book is great for keeping in touch with distant acquaintances etc. I had to organise a class reunion recently and it saved me many hours.

Facebook is extremely invasive. It tracks down your email address even through supposedly secure sites and finds you friends that you've never heard of.

It is worth in excess of $100 billion today - so the personal information it contains is very valuable to potential purchasers. Ultimately do we know what this information is being used for?

A game I play online is connected to FB, and players often advise signing up for freebies in the game, but FB wouldn't let me register a nick, so they can get nicked.

A while back when dirty on someone who I've helped out quite a bit over the years and then stole from me, I got into his FB page simply by being told the the email address and working out the password by knowing the year model and engine capcity of his bike.
From there I got his girl friend's name, all her friends' names, name of his associates I'd not known of previously, read messages from some chick in Maryborough and his fairytale replies ect ect. I knew what events he'd been invited to and the addresses of the venue.

Oh yeh, FB makes stalking so much easier, all drama victims should get it right away.

Going feral sounds tough Hoppy, although it would occasionally have its benefits. Why doesn't Facebook let you register a nick? There must be people who use aliases - but if not, it just proves how much this site knows about everyone. They won't allow nicks - yet they're happy to let young children sign up giving fake ages.

This just proves how vulnerable you are on Facebook. I sign in very rarely now knowing how easy it is to track someone down. If they can infiltrate secure sites - then it's possible they can infiltrate information on your computer.

FB is a great way to keep up with old friends I'd otherwise fall out of touch with. Also, I do like the newsfeed from organizations I care about but all the sharing of birthdays and other crap I care fuck all about.
