Why put down that third box of breakfast donuts and get up off the couch when some man can earn your donut money for you? While evolution has probably selected for lazy women as they don't waste energy on any task other than barfing out babies, you would think that they could occasionally make the effort to rise above their lowly origins. You would think so, and you would be wrong.
As for the vicarious self-aggrandisement, the fact is that women are pretty much useless at everything. Show me a task, even a very simple task, and I'll show you a woman who can't do it. This is why if you look at the top performers in the world in any field of endeavour, you will very rarely spot any beef curtains. They suck at everything, and they know it. And because of this, they know that their only hope of self-aggrandisement lies in vicarious self-aggrandisement. In other words, basking in someone else's glory. They seek to partner important monkeys because they know they have almost no chance of ever actually being an important monkey.
