The Coalition split

Post by mellie » Wed May 21, 2025 9:57 am

This isn't a desirable outcome, I hope both parties work-through their post- electoral dysphoria and get things back on track sooner than later.
The longer the split the harder it'll be to reunite.

I don't believe it was due to nuclear power push ( I still think Nuclear power is a step in the right direction) ....

They'll dump Sussan Ley and reunite before the next election.

Good. I don't like her, just a feeling of course, I have not even delved into her history, other than whatever has made news that I recall off the top of my head, but I feel she's a Turncoat Turnball. I might see if I can substantiate this gut- feeling later on.

Abbott would know, as would Howard.

I'll delve into their views also. If they're not endorsing her, or have said zero words of support for her or a coalition split, then my gut feeling is on point. Often it's what's NOT said that's more important, reading between the lines.

As it should be when it comes to former leaders, PM'S having opinion's on their party's new leadership.
When either Howard or Abbott do say something, I listen carefully because it's more about the way it's said, or what isn't.

I can't imagine Howard or Abbott would be pleased with this split, however I'll bet Turnball is.

Howard has already spoken out and said this is a big mistake. The Coalition needs to remain a coalition.

This does not suprise me.

Good old Howard, still holding the fort and being the voice of reason within a landscape of chaos.

They really need to heed his dire warning.

I agree but I still don't think Ley will last the distance.

She's a caretaker until the Libbos can get their act together.

I feel that Australia will have to get a lot worse for the Govt to change hands -
people will have to be starving and living on the streets - that will do it -
and it's already happening owing to mass immigration and the cost of living -
people spending 90% of their money on rent etc because of housing pressure.

The feint split might work in their favour.
It's certainly reinforced a mostly forgotten National Party back into the limelight as equally important to the Liberals in coalition.
The ALP has shown from Keating backstabbing Hawke, Gillard and Rudd. That it is unstable as such.
Maybe this feint split will just strengthen the coalition bond as the priority? While the current ALP term will show a growing division between Labor and it's sidekick Greens and even a disunity in Labor ranks itself. Maybe Albo will be shafted from within?
