An interesting read, indeed, but a bit of comprehension would indicate that that article says nothing about "eliminating" the flu, only a better method of control.

I think that there may be a real possibility of eradicating polio from the planet if we can keep vaccination rates high, and extend them to areas where it is still endemic. There is no way that would be the case with the flu however, in the foreseeable future. The flu adapts/evolves too readily, and has the potential to jump across species.
