I don't know about that campaign... care to share please.
You are hearing and reading only criticism of Julia Gillard and the ALP from all our media sources at the moment - the TV, radio and all the online newspapers all are promoting negative and potentially damaging comments. I think a lot of it is sexism - even Rudd didn't cop as much flak as Gillard currently is.

The media does appear to choose our PM's for us and the RW voices now seem louder than those from the left when we were trying to get rid of Howard. It's been an about turn by the media that's for sure. The majority of people seemed pleased when Gillard became PM, but now muck is being thrown at her and some of it appears to be sticking.

I hope that she has the strength to rise above it. She showed a little passion today over those leaks - maybe we need to see some more. She needs to start fighting for her political life - and forcefully.

Much of the media is progressive left wing and ideologically motivated, but Julia is presenting herself and her party as a conservative playing power games. The conflict between the two perspectives was made clear in the Herald Sun's opinion piece by Latham and Chiffley. It's no surprise then that the media is having a field day at Labor's expense. They've become disillusioned with the Labor Party that no longer stands for them or other ideologically motivated progressives.

Did you ever think for a moment it could be that the Labor party is just shit?

I don't have a lot of faith in Labor, but I have even less faith in the Liberals. The thought of that divisive, xenophobic, elitist party running this country is far worse than Labor "supposedly" being bad economic managers and some party bickering.

There have been some stuff ups - but there were plenty also under the coalition. Our trade figures are better now than they have been in years - so that's a positive.

Besides - the Greens and Labor need each other this election. I want to see the Greens with their foot in the door. Once it's there - it's going to stay.

Good to see that you would rather the country go down the toilet than abandon your ideology

I think we can apply that analogy to the Liberals also. They've made a huge mistake getting rid of first Nelson - then Turnbull. There are plenty of "Greens" who would give Liberal their preference if either one of these two had been leader.

Abbott is too extreme and he is not a great politician - either is Gillard for that matter, but she's an unknown to a certain extent - Abbott isn't. We all know his ideology and not everyone likes it.

It doesn't matter that the Greens would have preferenced the Liberals if Turnbull or Nelson were in charge - neither appealed to the voters. Both had low approval ratings and were turning many swinging voters away from the Liberals. Abbott has been the strongest chance. Screw what the Greens want. If they want to continue to be arse-fucked by their Labor abusers then that's their problem.

Abbott will get the Catholic vote - that's for sure. How many Catholics have we left in Australia?

We're a pretty multicultural society now and a PM who is an atheist might not appear so discerning when it comes to religious demands.

Have you got any nice new buildings at your school Ethnic? Have any of the kids got their computers yet?

If the coalition gets in - the BER scheme and the subsidised computers in government schools will be the first to go, although private schools will be assured of continuous generous public funding.

The Coalition has said it would be prepared to adopt recommendations from the government review into the funding model set up by John Howard.

Opposition education spokesman Christopher Pyne has written to the Bishops Commission for Catholic Education promising to keep most of the Howard system, which gives elite private schools substantial sums on the basis of where students live
